Dear JR Nikko Station Tourist Information Center,
My name is Anna Nguyen. I am just wondering if you could please give me advice on how to organise my day trip (1 day) around Nikko between places given the fact that I have JR pass so will not use Tobu Nikko line from Tokyo. I would like to visit Toshogu Shrine, Shinkyo Bridge,Odashirogahara Marshland, Ryuzu Falls/ Yudaki Falls & Lake Yunoko.
I am not sure how to put it in my itinerary as most of the itineraries I researched starting from Tobu Nikko Station while I am going to utilise my JR pass so I will have to get off at Imaichi Station/final stop.
Also, could you please advise what type of Nikko Pass I should get to accommodate my desired destinations in Nikko?

HI Anna. I have done this twice. It is very easy with your JR Pass. You can take the Shinkansen Yamabiko train 45 from Tokyo Sta at 9:40 am. Change at Utsunomiya for the JR Nikko line, which takes you right to Nikko. When you arrive in Utsunomiya on track 1 come upstairs, thru turnstile and right back downstairs on track 5. When you get off train in Nikko, an agent will sell you a day bus pass. This is best. You can get on and off as much as you want. Go to the temple, waterfall, etc. They give you a bus map so you know when and how the bus returns to Nikko Station. Have fun, it is a great city.

Good morning. We will be coming to Nikko for 1 day on the JR rail- as will have a Pass. It will be in September this year. Once we get to Nikko are there tours from here to visit the main attractions nearby. Thank you. Miss Rooney and Miss Rosalind

Hi. When you enter the Nikko train station, there is an information office on your left. They can explain the sights to see. You most likely will buy a one day bus pass. This allows you on and off at all the sights you want to see. They give you a map and all the sights have a number for the stop. So you can get off the bus and then Wait for the next bus. I believe they are every 30 minutes, so not a long wait.
