Beautiful Buddhist temple. It is a bit eccentric downtown but another great temple is located in front so you do not waste your time at all going there. The temple is beautiful and offers a very pleasant walk with its huge garden. The temple is very complete and offers a multitude of sculptures and ornaments.

The Impio is home to the famous Buddha statue, the "Lifting Buddha". The temple has become a focal point for the annual Siamese Songkran and Loi Krathong festivals within the city suburb.

It’s strange, but almost half of the reviews on this page are about a completely different temple, located almost a kilometer from the Buddhist Temple Wat Buppharam. Look again at the address of this temple - 8, Jln Perak, Pulau Tikus. And the huge reclining Buddha is not here. The Thai Buddhist temple Wat Buppharam is located slightly away from the more popular Wat Chaiyamangalaram and Dhammikaram. I learned that this relatively small temple complex was built in 1942 by monk Fotan Srikheo, who became the first chief abbot of this temple. The temple grounds are decorated with figures of various mythical religious creatures. A statue of Ganesha, an elephant-headed Hindu deity, is located at the main entrance. To the left is a beautiful temple dedicated to the goddess Guan Yin, a Mahayana bodhisattva, and on the far side leading to the burial grounds is a small temple to the Earth God, a Taoist deity. But the main original attraction, bright and beautiful, is one of the largest temple arches in Penang.

It is a temole where you can pray and worship.. The place when i visit was quiet.. And no person..probably different timing.

Only across the street from neighbouring temple, but was unfortunately closed - only open at the weekend apparently... but can still see some nice elements of it.

Beautiful temple, but we could only see it from outside the gates as it's closed during the week at the moment.

For those who love visiting these great religious and historical buildings, this is an unforgettable experience both inside and out. Fantastic statues and carvings.

We visited this lovely temple as heard about the reclining The Buddha herself was huge, beautiful and so was the temple itself.
The detail of the architecture and the Buddha are superb.
Queen Victoria granted a land for the Thai temple to be built in 1845.
The golden dragons outside are very impressive lovely colours.
One thing I found so touching and a fabulous idea was the urns in the wall of loved ones passed and contained their ashes and they details were put on the front with a photo it was beautiful.

This Thai Buddhist temple is an easy one to visit. The visitor is greeted by two golden dragons, and in the interior there is a beautiful reclining Buddha. Be sure to walk all the way around the Buddha. The walls, ceilings, and nooks are covered with beautiful painting and there are many different Buddhas. We had a wonderful guide who explained many of the details about the painting and the statues. And when you have finished exploring this temple, you can walk across the street and visit the Burmese temple.

Не заслуживает отдельной поездки из центра (особенно, учитывая джоржтаунские пробки), но рядом находится другой, потрясающий храм, посещение которого обязательно. А посему, приехав в это место можно посетить и Wat Buppharam Buddhist.
Можно полюбоваться гигантским лежащим Буддой и осмотреть стеночки с прахом, упокоенных здесь мирян. Захоронения прекратились в 70-х годах 20-го века, но несколько ячеек колумбария остались свободными (видимо выкуплены заранее). На входе в собор гордо вывешен диплом от трпадвайзера. Туризм, есть туризм. Но в целом все очень скромно.
