We hiked in this mountain as an alternative as the park to climb mount Santubong was closed without notice. So we were in our hiking outfit without any mountain to climb . As such, asked our driver to drop us off at this mountain to hike up the metal road for 5.4km .
It is 30minutes away from Kuching or Mount Santubung so make sure to arrange for transport there and return transport as it is very difficult to get a ride hail there .
Entrance fee is US$4 per foreign person and US$2 for locals . You need to register , log in and log out at the park office . Thereafter hike up 700m to the near peak on a steep mountain road that never seem to flatten . The views from the top is nice and there are benches and covered pavilion to rest enroute . The waterfall route and jungle route is disable if they did not close it off . Otherwise a very good place to workout and hike . Good for a 4 hour hike . It is not Mount santubung, but a little safer to hike in a rainy day which is very common in this area where it rains literally everyday around the year . The only difference is how intense the rain is that they shut the mountains from climbers - especially Mount Sabtubung .

Took me about 2 hours to get to the summit but I'm sure seasoned hikers would take probably around 1 hour 45 minutes or maybe less. There are apparently 4 trails to choose from so you might wanna plan your time wisely if you'd like to get the full experience. I barely saw any wildlife other than a few types of lizards and snakes but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. Might come back in the future to try the other trails. "Life is like a mountain. Hard to climb, but once you get to the top, the view is beautiful."

We headed out to Kubah NP to hike Gunung (Mt) Serapi. We had to hire a taxi as grab drivers don’t like going there or waiting for you to finish.
The entry fee was RM$20 which is fairly reparable for a paved 10km trip.
The jungle was beautiful, and it wasn’t actually that hot as you are in the shade for almost all of the hike.
It didn’t rain when we were out there, but I can imagine the concrete becomes slippery when wet.
We saw many many butterflies, and the jungle felt alive and fresh.
I highly recommend this hike.
It took us 1hr & 20mins to reach the top and 50mins to come back down.
The tax driver charged us RM$170 - but securing a trip home was important, so we just paid the $$!

I went on a night time frog spotting tour with Lucien (Sarawak private Tours and cooking class at Indah House). Lucien was extremely knowledgeable, and amazing at spotting frogs. We saw 9 different kinds. Walking in the forest after dark was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend doing it.

I love hiking, i love outdoor and i love challenges. So my friend @BenBassist invited me to join him one day to a morning hike. Its just 15minutes away from Kuching town and here we stood at the bottom of a hill of Serapi Mountain, the entrance of Kubah National Park.
He told a friend of mine and me to bet up early so we can get a slot in to hike. I was surprise at first of "what you mean get a slot?" as online says the park opens till 1pm. Then to my surprise, there we stood 700am at the parking lot waiting for the ticketing counter to open at 730am and there was already a short queue. We were happy that the air is so fresh, the weather was perfect on my 1st time and the hike was definately challenging for a paved road! So off we started at 730am and there was a longer queue behind us lining up to the parking, and only after the 1st hike only i knew that there is a limit of pax per day! (So do not be late guys coz my 2nd failed trip i arrived 850am and tickets were sold out). So on my 3rd trip, it was raining and i decided to go and give it a try. Rain or no rain, the amount of sweat pouring out of my head and pants definately not much a difference as compared to gettting drenched by the rain. Besides, I was in a RAIN-forest, so let there be RAIN! mostly the rain gets bounced of the tree leaves so i don't feed the rain directly on my head. Some people brought umbrellas and some people with raincoat, but i dont usually hike with those.
So here we go, up the 2000 feet hike, tiring but awesome to be in nature. Every now and then i will sstop to see the waterfalls at the side of the path, when it rains, there is more waterfalls by the pavements to see but of course, PLEASE DO NOT GO NEAR!
Anyways, cut it short, in 1 month i went back to hike the same place 3 times. I enjoyed it and am hoping to try a new course soon when the other tracks are open as the waterfall track is now close!

📍Kubah Waterfall, Kuching
When we had our pre-wedding photoshoot 3 years ago, we knew it had to be different..
We hiked in Kubah National Park all the way in to the waterfall, about an hour of journeying, together with 2 family friends who are amazing photographers. We brought formal attire, and changed there and there, just to immerse ourselves in the wonders of Borneo's Rainforests.
🌸The waterfall was magical.. It's not the gushing type with thundering waters, but instead, a gentle cascading fall with beautiful serenity pools, perfect for cool-water dipping. What makes this waterfall ethereal is how lush vines and ferns of different greens line the side of the cascades, flourishing and thriving with the constant gentle patters of water. The photography there was well worth all the effort.
🚗How to get there?
Drive by car (or rent) to Kubah National Park, using Waze or Google Maps. From Kuching, the journey will take about an hour or so. Upon arrival, Malaysians only have to pay RM 10 per entry, Foreigners at Rm 20. You will receive a map with 2 main destinations - the top of the mountain, and Kubah waterfall.
🌄You can give the top of the mountain journey a miss. From what I hear, there isn't even a view to enjoy, and it's just a tar road journey all the way.
Kubah Waterfall is to me the main attraction here.
⏲Come by morning; by afternoon, you might be denied entry because the rangers would have no one inside the rainforests after 6pm.
*Special thanks to Gabriel Diong and Julieann for the amazing photoshoot!

One of the reserved dipterocarpaceae forest park, taking 35 minutes distance from Kuching city centre.
This is an landmark and visitors worth spending time a day to come closely with wildlife which over 93 species as recorded by authorities.
Stop deforestation and avoid soil erosion was the first step to be caring about.

The nationalpark offers nice trails, which are very good signaled and clean. For the entrance you pay 20rm and you have to sign in and out at the headquarter. The staff at the headquarter is very friendly and helpful, they explain you the trails. They show you a good map (with the trails and emergency callnumbers) of which you can take a picture

Hello do you know if there is a bus from Kuching to Kubat national park? If there is one, where can I find the timetable?
Thank you so much

no bus but you can take grab or taxi go to kubah national park.
เขียนเมื่อ 27 สิงหาคม 2019
The distance is about 14 miles. So thats quite near. However getting there and back has better be planned as public transport to that location is limited. Suggest you hitch a ride back. There are many visitors and many of them are locals driving up there for a short day trek

Is there any bus we can use to visit Kubah NP? if yes what is the bus number and where is the station?
เขียนเมื่อ 8 พฤษภาคม 2019
I booked a private walking tour for my Kubah National Park hike as the public transport options are fairly limited.
The Sarawak Tourism website on Kubah National Park states:
"Bus No.K21 [City Public Link]. Bus Station near Saujana car park. Bus Fare RM3.50 one way.Time: 8.00am, 11.00am, 2.00pm & 5.00pm (Check with the station for latest schedule).
Taxis can also be chartered for the 40 minute trip to the park."
You have to check at the station for the schedule as to when you can board the bus for the return journey. I couldn't find the return journey times online. As for taxis, I had read a number of forums and ascertained that, while it is easy to charter a taxi to go out to Kubah National Park, finding a taxi for the return journey isn't that easy. That's why I opted for the paid tour.
Hope this helps.

What's the latest check-in time for the hostel within Kubah National Park, and is there a way to get here from Buntal esplanade?

Can you do the night frog pond walk with a park ranger/guide hired from the main gate or do you have to go on an organised tour? Also is it too slippery in April to do carrying a 2 year old in a backpack?
เขียนเมื่อ 1 ตุลาคม 2018
Hey, i would suggest catching a uber using the app, Grab will be difficult because drivers are scarce in the area as it's pretty remote. There is a bus you can catch but i forget the number as we missed it, it stops running at 3pm!!! Also we didn't go to the park from the airport but arranged a car through our hotel. hope this helps? :/

Hi, if a guide is not needed for this park, is it safe for non-expect hiker ?
เขียนเมื่อ 12 ตุลาคม 2017
Yes it is quite safe. The man where you sign into the park was very helpful with information and maps.

Is there a way to get from Kubah HQ to Matang without hiking 3.5 hours? Do minibuses go between the two sites?
เขียนเมื่อ 8 สิงหาคม 2017
You can Uber if you really want to. Cheap.
