Really sad to see the dolphins chased down and surrounded by 12 boats. ( about 100 people).
The few we saw were obviously stressed as up to 30 or more people at a time from different boats jumped in the water and splashing about which is not pleasant for the dolphins.
It is obviously a big free for all and no management or schemes to limit human behaviour.
I would call it whaling without the kill.
I didn’t expect this thinking it would be a monitored situation and respectful of the animals.

Boat Princess recipient 0380 Jack Service Co Ltd.-Flic En Flac,we met a man called Jack in the La Pirogue's beach on 23rd of November.He sold us an activity to swim with dolphins,he took 100€.And when we gave him this money,he suddenly changed the time and also the date of the activity . Unfortunately the hotel La Pirogue could not extend our stay so we had to cancel this activity. When we asked him for a refund,he refused to pay us back.In my opinion La Pirogue should not allow people like Jack(jackbeach14@gmail.com, phone number:+230 5726 3779) to work here.
I highly advised to do any booking via Tripadvisor to ensure refundability and good service.

Sortie le 5/11 a 6h50 2 bateaux de 4/6 personnes seulement, dans le calme absolu, 2 groupes de dauphins à long bec (une vingtaine ou trentaine) nous avons plongé avec eux 5/6 fois c’était magnifique et inoubliable a faire tôt le matin! Équipe super sympa et pro! Au top!

Aktuell ist wenig Tourismus auf der Insel, dementsprechend auch wenig Menschen bei den Delphinen. Waren mit 6 im Wasser und konnten 40min komplett mit den Delphine genießen. Vor 3 Jahren hatten wir die Tour schonmal gebucht, dies entsprach eher einer Jagd. Die Crew war super nett und hilfsbereit.

Great visit to watch the dolphins swimby. Tried to swim with the dolphins but the only problem is that when you are told to jump in the sea by the time you do that the dolphins would have gone and you won't get to see them. Water is not very clear at the stage where you get to see the dolphins on the speedboat!
Bring your own food because you are not served breakfast and lunch is late until you reach another island. The only thing provided to you after repeatedly asking for food would be a small slice of bread. The speedboat wouldn't leave on time even after being told to come at 8 in the morning the boat left an hour later.
Big problem for vegetarians because all food served would be non vegetarian.
Please be informed prior to avoid problems later

We arranged an excursion through Mauritius Attractions and met the boat crew (Robbie and Michael) on the West Coast near Tamarin.
These guys know their stuff. A +-25 minute boat ride to where the spinner dolphins were on the day and we all had a chance to don a mask and snorkel and dive into the sea to swim with the Dolphins in their natural surroundings. Just awesome 😎.
On the way back to the shore, Robbie took us closer to the shore past the reef where they dropped anchor and we were able to snorkel for about 15 minutes on the coral reefs. Absolutely brilliant and as a diver, I had a blast eyeing the reef fish 🐟 that were present.
A trip that is worth every penny and I encourage everyone considering this excursion to “Just do it”.

Dies war die erste Tour die wir bei der Firma „connections“ gebucht hatten.
Der Transport holte uns pünktlich ab vom Hotel (Ostküste) und brachte uns zum Treffpunkt.
Dort angekommen wurden uns Getränke angeboten. Nach kurzer Wartezeit wurden wir in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt und gingen zu unseren Booten. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 10 Personen auf einem Boot.
Begleitet durch zwei Guides. Die Guides am Boot waren sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und bemüht.
Zuerst ging es aufs offene Meer, wo wir gespannt warteten, um die ersten Delfine zu sehen.
Man muss leider sagen dass diese Delfin Beobachtung und Schwimmen mit den Tieren, sich wie eine Jagd angefühlt hatte. Es waren ca 25 Boote, voll besetzt mit fotografierenden und filmenden Touristen die alle ein Ziel hatten, das perfekte Foto. Die Tiere wurden regelrecht gejagt, ich hatte dabei kein gutes Gefühl mehr. Dies muss ein extremer Stress für die Tiere sein. Das Angebot wurde jedoch nicht so angepreist.
Ansonsten war es ein gelungener Tagesausflug, es ging zum Crystal Rock zum schnorcheln, ebenso wurde an einer einsamen Insel für uns frisch gekocht (Meeresfrüchte und Huhn gegrillt), dies schmeckte sehr gut. Es gab ausreichend zu trinken (Coca Cola, Bier, Punsch, Rum und Saft).
Auf der Insel verbringt man eine längere Zeit, man kann dort baden, spazieren gehen aber auch Händler kommen vorbei und bieten Souvenirs an. Gegessen wird bei einem schattigen Plätzchen.
Die Utensilien zum Schnorcheln werden zur Verfügung gestellt, diese sind gereinigt.

I had the chance to swim somehow along with dolphins, but it is not so easy and as there are many boats you need to be very cautious about your safety. Think twice before going for this trip.

Do NOT swim with any of the places advertising swimming with the dolphins. Yes you will see them along with a couple of hundred people. The day I went out, there were at least twenty small boats, carrying an average of 10 people. The boats surrounded the dolphins and everyone dove into the water to see them. As the dolphins tried to get away the boats followed and basically rounded them up so more tourists could dive in and “swim with the dolphins”. As this activity is done everyday, you can imagine the stress the dolphins are under. Currently there are NO regulations protecting the dolphins. The snorkelling also done on this trip is similar to what you can see on the main beach in Flic en Flac.
There need to be alternative job opportunities for the local people.
