he know all the back ways since he has been there for years.

we recommend him.
also, he speaks french along with English.

Private day tour in Kyoto

We have just returned from Japan and our visit to Kyoto was especially memorable.
We hired a private driver/guide who picked us up and dropped off in the hotel
and showed us in 5 hours some highlights of this amazing city including temples, shrines, gardens and more.
Hiro Nakajima the guide and driver spoke very well English and was very articulate and knowledgable on the culture, history and more.
I would definitly recommend his services and you can easily contact him by email
in English and he will respond promptly.

Full day biking and touring

With three full days in Kyoto we used our hotel to book a driving tour for one day and a 1/2 day biking tour for the other day. Both we good, but not as good as our final tour. On day three we hired Guillaume for a full day bike tour. What a treat, we covered an incredible amount of distance that day, visiting temples, the monkey hill, the outskirts of town into the rice fields and farming area and back to the narrow streets of residential Kyoto. It was a full day at our own pace, which got better and more fun as the day went on. Guillaume is a patient and wonderful guide. His knowledge of Kyoto is very good and his English is excellent. If you want a slow pace or full day, Guillaume is the person to hire. He can lead you to specialty shops for tea and handcrafts, local restaurants that are not overpriced and can help translate everything. All his bookings are done by email, so be patient and plan ahead. You will not be disappointed!

Guillaume has excellent reviews so I used his contact page (he does not provide a direct email address). Weeks later and no response.

We did find many other highly recommended Kyoto guides (also expats) who were very responsive and hired one.

Something to consider.

Highly recommend

My boyfriend and I booked Guillaume for two days. He was very knowledgeable about Kyoto. We do not like busy touristy places. And he took us Genkouan temple, peaceful place. I love the the beauty scene of a Japanese garden through the circle and square window. I like the meaning of the shape “satori-no-mado” (window of enlightenment) and “mayoi-no-mado” (window of ambivalence). I did meditate sitting there and I could be in calm.

He knows a nice restaurant and we could enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine, Yuba and Sake. It was really good.
He's very flexible and we never felt rushed. He made our special days in Kyoto.

I would definitely book him again and recommend him to all my friends.

Book Guillaume!

Three of us had a fabulous day touring with Guillaume. We had toured one day on our own prior and it was so much better seeing everything with detailed explanations from Guillaume. He pointed things out we never would have learned on our own. He was so patient and took us to all of the sites on our wish list. He is very professional, answered all emails promptly, designed a great day for us and knew answers to all of our questions at the sites. We were pretty tired by the end of the day but Guillaume never wavered in ensuring we got to all of our sites. Thank you for a fabulous day and making Kyoto come to life for us!

Nonstop tour of amazing information

We 3 adults kept Guillaume busy all day plus, and we were never without information about any and everything. We asked for best matcha ice cream, the best tea, or what ever we needed -he could make happen. One of us has Celiac, so difficult to find food in restaurants that are soy sauce free, but Guillaume managed to help get us a nice meal in a small local restaurant! His knowledge about the Temples and Shinto/ Buddist history was fascinating. We were exhausted at the end of the day, but Guillaume was always ready to move!

Kyoto Day Tour

I was in Kyoto for a day and needed a guide that knew everything about Kyoto and found Guillaume from France! He has been living in Kyoto for many years and really know it all and more :) I had written a list of all the sights I wanted to see and he took me to all of it in a relaxed and great way, there was never any stress, he gave so much interesting information about each place, always helping me to take really good pictures by finding the perfect spot! He was showing both the very known and less known temples and shrines of Kyoto, and also knew where to get the best meals, everything tasted delicious and was always that true traditional Kyoto flavor that I now love. If you need a guide for Kyoto there is honestly no one better that Guillaume, the kindest and the best! Five stars ⭐️

Super expérience avec Guide in Kyoto

Nous avons eu la chance de passer 2 journées avec Guillaume comme guide à Kyoto et nous avons profité de chaque minute! Notre guide a su s'adapter et nous faire des circuits sur mesure qui ont mélangé sites incontournables et ballades hors des sentiers battus. Nous recommandons vivement Guillaume si vous êtes de passage à Kyoto, la ville est sublime et il y a tant de choses à voir qu'il vaut mieux avoir le bon guide.

Great, Great Day

We had a great day touring the city with Guillaume! We wanted an over view of the city on the last day we were there. We didn't have much time in Kyoto, but we had bikes at our AirBnB. He was very responsive in getting us ideas of a plan. Thought the temples and shrines are beautiful, we didn't want to just focus on those. He toured us through what he though were good highlights, giving us all the history along the way. We also enjoyed a great lunch with him as well as a local favorite snack that we would have never known about. We ended up hiking to see an over view of the city and hitting off the beaten path locations. His knowledge about the culture and city is unbelievable! I highly recommend Guillaume as a guide! It was a great, relaxing, fun filled final day for us. Had we more time, I would have gladly used his services to see more of the city.
