The Hankyu Hanshin Department Store Group is two large department stores directly connected to JR Osaka Station and Umeda Station on the Midosuji Line. One of them, the "Hanshin Umeda Main Store," was rebuilt as the "Main Store" and had its grand opening in April 2022. The basement is said to be the “food Hanshin”, and it is packed every day with a wide variety of ingredients, from sweets to gourmet foods.

I went to the Hanshin department store, which has underground food and bread. In this case, the purpose is to purchase fruit. There were a lot of delicious looking grapes.

The department store at Umeda station is already huge with many floors. The most interesting for us is the selection of delicacies on the ground floor. Like a light in the dark, we saw French baguettes, various rolls and all kinds of pastries here. After almost 2 weeks of Japan, that was a real change for us. Although not quite like home, but finally bread again 🤩

The fried chicken at New Minhen, available in the deli section of the Osaka Hanshin Department Store, which was renovated last year, is delicious even when cold.

There are two buildings and both basement levels have a large selection of eateries. The building further away from the station opens till late 10:30 or so which was a bonus as we got back quite late from our travels that day. They do not have seats but have standing stations for patrons to eat their food. You order at the eatery you want and pick up before finding your station to finish your meals. They were one of the cheapest meals we had in our entire trip and the ramen were delicious and filling.

In 2000, I came to Koshien on a Fuji Tigers Club bus tour, and since I had some time before the start, I took the Hanshin train to Umeda, bought about 10,000 yen worth of goods at the department store, and walked around Dotonbori. After sightseeing at Osaka Castle by car, I had to go to the Osaka Nanko ferry terminal by 3 p.m., so I used G-Navi to search for a parking lot, and finally managed to park in the underground parking lot. I asked the parking lot attendant for the exit closest to the department store, and since I had to return to the parking lot, I asked my wife to take a photo of the exit area with her smartphone. I went above ground and tried to find the department store with my smartphone, but even when I looked up at the surrounding buildings, I couldn't find it because there was no sign. Finally, I asked passersby and finally managed to find it. I remembered that there was a goods section on the 7th floor, but I couldn't find it, so I had a late lunch at a restaurant on the 8th floor. After confirming with an employee that it was in a corner of the 7th floor, I managed to buy towels, small items, and souvenir cookies, achieving my initial goal. I don't think people from Shizuoka Prefecture would go out of their way to come to Hanshin Department Store, but... Later, when I asked my friend who lives in Fujinomiya, Izumi, he said that it's difficult for people from outside the prefecture to park their cars in the underground parking lot in Umeda.

I went to the Hanshin Department Store Umeda branch the day after the Hanshin Tigers were declared the number one team in Japan. I had to go first thing in the morning. The item I wanted was sold out.

阪神食品館が2022年4月6日ｸﾞﾗﾝﾄﾞｵｰﾌﾟﾝ後 初めて訪問しました。 入館すると ﾋﾞｯｸﾘ、以前とは 大きく雰囲気が異なり 店舗散策が楽になり より魅力的になりました。 今回は 6つのｴﾘｱの内 《洋菓子ﾜｰﾙﾄﾞ》のみを散策し 【C3】店舗前に《阪神梅田限定 ﾄﾛｯﾍﾟﾃｲﾗﾐｽ（ﾌﾗﾝｽのﾄﾛﾍﾟｼﾞｪﾝﾇをもとに作ったｽｲｰﾂ 454円税込/個 添付 写真参照》の《阪神梅田限定》の言葉が 【C3】はあちこちのﾃﾞﾊﾟｰﾄに出店している中 気になり 購入しました。 今回《洋菓子ﾜｰﾙﾄﾞ》の全ての店舗（33店）を知ることが出来ず 他の5つのｴﾘｱも散策しませんでしたが 機会あれば 食品館全てを 散策したくなり、流石に 阪神梅田本店の食品関連は面白く 魅力的です。
