Stopped today (12/7/2019) about 12:20. Read it was open 12-5 for the holidays. No one in sight and locked up tight. All we saw was a guy with a trailer in the parking lot. Hoped to find Christmas gifts for relatives. Oh well.

The value of this unassuming spot is in the staff. While the collection of artifacts was impressive, what really made this stop worthwhile was the staff. Jack was truly a pleasure to speak with and listen to. He is a true gentleman. His stories and anecdotes lent themselves so well to the museum, as he has spent his life on the water and in the town. In addition, it was nice to hear young docents speak with knowledge and passion as well. Hopefully folks like Jack will continue to share their stories with younger generations.

This is a excellent museum regarding Great Lakes shipping. It has a wide range of history including the pilot house off a former Great Lakes ship. You could spent a half a day there and not see it all. The Museum staff is very friendly and willing to help on a tour. I visit it at least once every year to see what new has been added. It us great place to learn about the Great Lakes.

The problem with tours that include light houses are all of the neat places around them.. and never enough time. This is another. The museum is manned by dedicated volunteers that do a great job and can answer mostly any question. There is more than light houses to talk about in there and if time allow I would suggest this stop if close to Ashtabula.

we ended up at this museum while trying to get a good view of the lighthouse. Unfortunately, the museum was closed, but we were still able to stroll around the grounds. There's lots of interesting things to see, including models of equipment used to load and unload all the sea vessels that come to this port. There's plenty of room to park too.

Located in a house with great views of the harbor. So much history of the Great Lakes. The volunteers are friendly and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.

While it's not easy to miss this house on the hill overlooking Bridge Street, it is easy to overlook the museum inside. Please don't - make sure you come during museum hours and get a tour from one of the friendly, dedicated folks that help run the place. Not only will you see maritime items from the Great Lakes, but you'll see a miniature recreation of the Ashtabula coal yards, an actual part of a boat attached to the house, and you'll be supporting the local historical society. So drive on up the brick road and satisfy your Maritime cravings!

Yes BUT we are located at the end of a "Dead End Street. If you can pull that size trailer and have a good helper, there are several wide driveways to allow you to turn around. Once you complete that, parking on the street is available (not over night though). Hours of the museum are Noon until 5:00pm.
