Hermann est un guide formidable et passionné et l'équipage au top.

Our 4days/3nights boat trip with Oropendolatours was amazing with plenty of attractions including night boat excursions (we could see and touch amazon boa snake and little cayman), early morning bird-watching, piranha fishing, spending the night in the forest, swimming with pink dolphins, feeding squirrel monkeys, visiting indigenous village and learning how to climb acai palm. We were swimming in the river, having bath under the waterfalls, eating exquisite fishes (prepared by Merry) and identitying with the book lots of animals we've met. Everything was well organised and on time. Herman is an experienced Portuguese and English speaking guide who shares his knowledge about Amazonia in a familiar way, can spot lots of hidden animals and identity birds by their voices.

Nous avons fait une superbe croisière de 7 nuits avec Herman qui est un guide passionnant et passionné! Il a su intéressé nos enfants à chaque découverte. Il est attentif et très prudent! Nous avons pu faire malgré certains jours de pluie toutes les découvertes prévues! Nous avons passé une nuit en pleine jungle dans un campement, ce qui a été vraiment notre coup de coeur!

We had an Amazon/Rio Negro boat expedition of 4 days / 3 nights with Herman Birley (and his crew) as our guide. The tour was fabulous and very well organized! Herman is an incredible guide, he speaks perfect English and Spanish. He is extremely kind, knowledgeable and communicative about the Amazon and believe me, we had a lot of questions! The crew was amazing and extremely reliable.
One important point for me is the respect for the rainforest and the wildlife, I particularly appreciated the effort of Herman and his team on this. Thanks Herman!

On Dec. 01 and 02/2019 we toured with Oropendola Tours by Herman Birley. Being a very critical "Kraut" and my spouse a bitchy "Brit" all our expectations were met in these two tours. Setting up the itinerary from afar with Herman was professional as he responded to all requests and enquiries promptly. He proved to be a competent tour guide and if we ever return to Manaus he would be our choice. We were in a group of 20 members organized by myself and everyone was satisfied with the tour. I can recommend Oropendola Tours under the guidance of Herman and would enlist his services again.

Herman Birley was an incredible guide - I cannot imagine the trip without him. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Amazon (he grew up there, and has been leading tours for 20 years), but also a gracious, communicative and flexible host. He can structure whatever tour you want (from luxury to basic, casual to active, etc.).
Herman also speaks perfect English (and Spanish), and is great with both kids and adults. I am recommending Oropendola Tours to all of my friends.

C'est le deuxième voyage que nous faisons avec Oropendola Tours et le guide Hermann en Amazonie, avec nos deux enfants âgés de 8 et 10 ans (la première fois, c'était en 2015, avec nos enfants âgés de 4 et 6 ans à l'époque). Il ne nous arrive jamais de refaire les mêmes voyages deux fois, mais celui-ci était tellement exceptionnel que nous avons souhaité que les enfants revivent la même expérience en étant un peu plus grands.
Nous avions pris la formule croisière sur l'Amazone pendant 4 jours (3 nuits). Nous étions sur un petit bateau avec 2 cabines confortables, un espace cuisine, et un ponton supérieur avec des hamacs pour relaxer et admirer la vue. En plus du guide Hermann, il y avait le commandant de bord, son aide et une cuisinière (qui cuisinait délicieusement bien des plats typiques de la région!).
Hermann, qui connaît l'Amazonie comme sa poche, nous guidait dans des endroits magiques où nous pouvions admirer la faune locale avec des explications et anecdotes qui enrichissaient le voyage : oiseaux, singes, jacarés (crocodiles), paresseux (qu’il est monté chercher dans l’arbre lors du premier voyage pour qu’on le voit de près), piranhas (que nous avons pêchés) etc. Hermann a une capacité incroyable à dénicher les animaux et nous les faire découvrir, à distance, ou de très près comme ce jacaré qu'il a attrapé dans l'eau avec ses mains, mais toujours avec beaucoup de respect pour les animaux (ceux-ci étant toujours relâchés) et leur environnement.
Le programme était complété par des balades dans la forêt amazonienne à la découverte de la flore locale (arbres médicinaux, araignées géantes, etc.), la visite de tribus d'indiens qui nous font découvrir leur folklore, une baignade dans des sources d'eau pure, etc.
Hermann s’adaptait à notre rythme et celui des enfants, tout en s’évertuant à nous faire découvrir le maximum sans ménager ses efforts. Son respect de la nature et des animaux est également très appréciable. Il a par ailleurs adapté le programme pour que nous puissions prendre notre vol retour qui était très tôt le matin du dernier jour.
Bref, super expérience (x2) avec un super guide !

We made our Amazon/Rio Negro boat expedition of 4 days (Anavilhanas package)with Herman Birley/Oropendola Tours and I am 100% recommending this tour operator: 4 full days and nights of adventure with Herman who really is a professional and works with good guys. Serious and discrete crew, wonderful cook who made us amazonian specialities 3 times a day, amazing night&day expeditions with the speed boat. Herman managed the time really good, without rushing (always time for a caipirinha), following the weather he switched programs very smoothly, always amazing things to show, interesting anecdotes to tell and extremely good at spotting wild animals. He could deliver everything he offered in the program and much more (we even went to a Samba school show in the Teatro Amazonas! As our flight was really late at night, Herman guided us in the city as well!). I would definitely advice you to plan your Amazon trip with Oropendola Tours.

Herman Birley is the best person you can have with you to visit Amazon. He knows so much, you'll learn a lot along the way, and you'll feel in total confidence with him, he is reliable and knows his land so well; on top of being such a great person.

Herman est 1 guide formidable, attentif et rassurant ; j ai pu grâce à lui dépasser ma peur des serpents entre autres et profiter d instants magiques dans la forêt et sur l eau. Herman nous a fait découvrir 1 petite partie de son univers, sortie nocturne, pêche aux piranha ..et nous regrettons de ne pas avoir prévu 1 séjour plus long. A faire absolument
