Le 2,5 h per raggiungere il sito in barca sono volate : un incanto farsi trasportare lungo i canali ed osservare la vita quotidiana e la campagna circostante! Quando poi da lontano abbiamo iniziato ad intravedere i templi ci siamo sentiti per un attimo dei piccoli Indiana Jones...
Del villaggio che si snoda attorno agli stupa non abbiamo un ricordo particolare ma il complesso di Samkar a noi è piaciuto tantissimo! Pochi turisti e contesto tranquillo.

Quando arriverete sul Lago Inle, dopo esservi resi conto che è il volto più autentico del Myanmar, sentirete nominare la remota ed antica città di Sagar (Sakkar). Remota perchè il viaggio per raggiungerla dura almeno due ore e mezza di navigazione. Antica perchè qui sono concentrati gli stupa più antichi dell'intera regione. Arrivarci vi permetterà di ammirare scorci bellissimi del lago e della vita che lungo esso si sviluppa. Alcune stupa sono in corso di restauro. L'accesso al sito archeologico è gratuito. E' presente un grazioso ed ospitale ristorante, gestito da una meravigliosa famiglia birmana che farà di tutto per farvi sentire a vostro agio qualora decidiate di bervi un buon caffè o mangiare un boccone. Pochissimi turisti. Da visitare assolutamente.

The trip by boat takes 2 hours from the south of Inle lake: if you have time, take this trip to discover amazing landscape, cultured land,villages, waterways, and stop on the way to the friendly potter Shwe Yaung Myae in Noung Po.
You can walk around, discover the pottery, the kiln and the villagers way of life, without disturbing them.
Sagar village itself is very low key,with atmospheric stuppas, some being built new.
The houses,well looked after gardens, schools, are all worth discovering.
A rustic type of tourism, our recommendation, this is the real Myanmar,with friendly people.
You can walk around, discover the pottery, the kiln and the villagers way of life, without disturbing them.
Sagar village itself is very low key,with atmospheric stuppas, some being built new.
The houses,well looked after gardens, schools, are all worth discovering.
A rustic type of tourism, our recommendation, this is the real Myanmar,with friendly people.

Sagar( Samkar) Village was an ancient city of Shan in the historical time and still remain some footage of the past. It locates about 15miles south of Inle Lake and by the Samkar Lake which connects to Inle Lake.
Visitors will take a boat from Nyaung Shwe to Sagar about 3 hours trip along the Bilu Chaung(small creek which flows from Inle to Sagar lakes). Also can visit the small villages on the way to Sagar.
There are unique Mudra(style) of statue of Buddha in Sagar which made from fine workmanship of the ancient era. Sagar is compare to Sukhothai in Thailand as similar type of culture,been told.

奥インレーにある村ですが、片道が2～3時間掛かるので、日帰りだとスケジュールがキツイので、村内又は南インレーなどで宿泊するプランを組むのがお勧めです。
私はここにあるサガ―遺跡（saga Pagoda）が目的で訪問しましたが、
あれ？何か様子が違う・・・。
ネットで情報を調べた時は、一部崩れたりした古びた感じの仏塔群が並んでいたんですが、新品同様の仏塔が並んでいます。
サガ―遺跡と言いつつ、実はミャンマーには遺跡と言うのはほとんど無く、
各地の寺院・仏塔はミャンマーの人達にとって、
今も生きている現役の場所なので傷むと修復したり新しくしていくので、昔と雰囲気が大幅に変わったりします。
ガイドさんに言わせれば、もっと雰囲気も残して上手に治せば良いのにとの事ですが、
観光客としては全面同意なのですが、地元の方達の事を考えると何ともですね（＾＾；
村内にはツーリスト向けの綺麗なレストランも数件あるので、奥インレーへの移動で疲れた体を一休みさせるもの良いと思います。
また、宿泊施設もあるので、日程に余裕のある方はこちらで一泊するのも面白いと思います。
※宿泊施設に付いては投稿時はsamkaで検索すると、一軒だけ登録されています。
但し地図での場所が奥インレーではなく、南インレーと間違って登録されていま すので注意して下さい。
村内は観光客向けの施設も順次建設中のようですので、数年したら随分様子が変わる気がします。
投稿時はトリップアドバイザーの地図では奥インレー西岸にありますが、実際は東岸です。
西岸にはTAKHAUNG MWETAW PAGODAがありますが、こちらの仏塔群は小カックーと言った感じで見事なのでお勧めです。
投稿時ではトリップアドバイザー未登録なので、新規申請しましたが認可されれば良いんですけど（＾＾；

While Inle is more becoming a tourist trap, a day trip to Sagar is really a treat for us. A village of unexplored, of sunken stupas and smiling locals. Here you will find a real ‘local experience’.

This village which still has no mains electricity was reached after a 3-hour journey from the upper lake, passing the former checkpoint beyond which no tourists were permitted under the previous regime.
Far fewer boats are on the waterways linking two lakes and you get a good opportunity to learn more of the life of the people who live in their stilt houses. For bird watchers there is a wide variety of waterbirds which can be observed at close quarters if you have a sympathetic boatman. There is a very poignant collection of submerged stupa near the village and a couple of simple restaurants which are extremely reasonably priced

Calme et zénitude. Après une longue traversée du lac Inlé du nord au sud, on éprouve une grande quiétude face à ces pagodes ancestrales, à moitié enfouies dans l'eau.

I was wondering how many school children there are in Sagar Village as I would like to take some items ( coloured pencils and drawing pads) for the children when we visit the village in early December this year.

I intend to visit Loikaw in Kayah State, further South from Sakar, this November. I would be greatful for yur impressions and ideas.
I have read that the guides have become very expensive, 120-150 dollars/day!
Is there a cheaper solution? Thanks for your advice and ideas.

Hi everyone,
I am a single traveller and I plan to enter to Myanmar by Mae Sai and the move from Tachilek to Kengtung.
Is it possible to travel by land from Kengtung to Taunggyi? I know there are no local buses but I cant find informations about shared cars/pickups and so. At the Chiang Mai Burmese consulate they just told me to contact a an agency in Tachilek...

Hi, I don't have the answer but If you don't get anywhere I suggest contacting local / burmese travel agents to see if there are any organised tours that you could join for just the leg of the journey you need. Hiring a private car with a driver may be an option, we did that in a different part.
