One of us still talks about the beer here (especially the selection of sours!). We live in a state that doesn’t allow cross-state shipping but would likely pay handsomely to have it delivered to us from a caring individual. The space was great, and we spent far longer here than we anticipated. It was a fantastic experience.

TrimTab Brewery fue, junto con Monday Night Brewery, las dos cervecerías de Birmingham que me resultaron más interesantes. Muy enfocados en cervezas ácidas (sour) e IPAs (incluyendo New England IPAs o NEIPAs), el taproom tiene mucha vida hacia el final de la tarde, incluyendo un DJ. Tiene mesas interiores y también un beer garden. Si bien no hay un beer flight, ofrecen vasos de 8 onzas, por lo que se pueden probar 2 o 3 cervezas y continuar camino o, terminar el día (cómo fue en mi caso). Creo que es una parada imperdible para cualquier beer geek.

We tried 4 breweries on a recent weekend visit to Birmingham, and this was our least favorite. The space is ok; the outdoor seating offered limited shade and not much of a view. The staff was not particularly friendly, the brewery does not offer small pours (as most in the area do, allowing you to try 4-6 of their beers), and the two we chose to try (full-size, of course) were not great. The pictures provided in the description above are misleading, in my opinion. No wide open spaces; everything felt a little cramped.

This is not your regular craft beer place. Came here on a Saturday and the place is packed with people, dogs and kids. Difficult to get served and they resorted to serving in plastic cups. The did not offer a flight to sample, you just have to order two or three and get a friend to order another few. Thought it was overpriced for what you get. You may need to park a block away or Uber/Lyft if it is as busy as it was. Beer colors are shockingly vivid and flavors are probably not for most people.

Trim Tab is one of my favorite places to relax and drink great beer. They always have a great selection and I have loved every one I have tried. My favorite place for wonderful beer in Birmingham!

Funky digs, sort of a hippy dorm room vibe, good sized patio in the back, usually with pretty good food trucks.
Dog friendly for sure.
Most famous for their fruity beers, stick with those and you can’t go wrong.

I am a beer enthusiast, so whenever I travel I look for good breweries to check out. Trim Tab has a laid-back atmosphere, with a wide-open tasting room that features eclectic seating. The tapsters know how to handle a crowd, treating each person with individual attention. Drop in for a pint - or a flight.

Trim Tab makes its mark with fruit and sour beers. On a recent trip to Birmingham, with stops at a few breweries, I thought that this was their unique contribution to the scene. (They also had a nice unfiltered IPA.)
The space is cool, funky, large, and generally easy to access. The walls are covered with local art for sale.
Service during the day was a bit flat, but the beers made up for that.

This place left me with mixed feelings. I liked the beers that fit my palate (too many fruited beers) and even one (sour IPA) that didn't necessarily live up to the IPA designation due to a lack of hop character. Trust me, I am not a hop head either. The bar stools are not comfortable and I like to belly up. You do get a good view of the operations from the bar so that's a plus and the surrounding area seating looked comfy. They had a large projector going for the bowl games. Cool art for sale on the walls. The other puzzling item is the water service. You have to find the drinking fountain and fill up. Lots of people asked during our time there so if nothing else, put up a sign so folks know (my apologies if there is one, but did not see it and was never referenced). I think this place has a lot going for it. Just some tweaks here and there and is certainly worth a stop.

One of two breweries that was recommended by a local beer connoisseur, I have to admit, he is correct. I visited on a weekday afternoon so I was the only one for two hours. Selection of beer is awesome and it definitely adds to “magic” of Birmingham’s beer scene. In addition to the IPA that I imbibed, I left with a 32 oz growler filled with a very flavorful German lager.
Located on the edge of downtown Birmingham what seems to be a converted warehouse, the tap house/lounge area is relatively large, making it a great place to socialize after work or for a get together. Parking is relatively easy, compared to others.
