20 years ago, I discovered that a sail in the wind can move you through space and that such movement is full of beauty. For me, teaching sailing is not only sharing a passion and a skill. It makes the understanding of humans as part of nature tangible: one can hear it in the whistling, howling, and roaring of the wind, in the murmuring, swishing and caressing of the waves, in the silences. It makes solidarity and community spirit among crew a necessity. It is learning-by-doing and a joy.
