Entry to the garden and the light & sound show is free of cost

Went for the evening light and sound show. Started at 6.45pm and was about 45 minutes in punjabi language.

Thought provoking ,peaceful memorial and garden.

Very important memorial gardens.
Peaceful and serene,,belying the horror of that fateful day in history ,that many were unaware of until that scene in the 1982 film "Gandhi" directed by Sir Richard Attenborough (who was criticed by some at the time)..
Visit is very thought provoking,and a little disturbing as one wonders that a small minority of humankind worldwide continues atrocities against fellow humans ,the majority of whom simply wish to live in harmony.
Visited as part of small group tour ,had I been alone I would have liked to stay longer to sit and reflect.

The Jalianwala Bagh memorial has an easy access from the Golden temple side too and this can be done on foot.The Garden which still bears testimony to the gruesome deed of the British and to their General Dyre who ordered firing on a group of unarmed innocent people who had congregated there on Baisakhi day has been well preserved.It has no entrance fees.The brutal unprovoked massacre of Indians at Jalianwala Bagh by British firing ignited Punjab like nothing else.The memorial has some Air-conditioned museums which vividly recreate this dark episode of history.On one flank is the well in which several innocents jumped in sheer panic in trying to save themselves.There is a wall on the other flank which has 28 bullet marks still there.The garden is well maintained.

A park, museum, a memorial all in one.
It's free to enter, the museum parts are light-touch but do a good job at explaining the events that led up to the massacre and the massacre itself.

You enter, see the galleries/halls, see the well where people jumped into, see bullet-holed walls, and a monument to the dead.

It's probably not really for kids (some of the museum's galleries), but despite the solemn nature of the park, there are still a lot of families having a day out there taking pictures.

A must visit experience in Amritsar.

This is the place where one of the most harrowing incidents of mankind history happened when General Dyre ordered to fire bullets on innocent people on the day of Baisakhi - 13 April 1919. Hundreds of people were murdered and injured in same incident. The garden has been renovated since then but you can still find the walls with bullet signs and the well in which people jumped to save themselves from bullet firing. There are many exhibits and shows which tell more about the incident - the reasons leading to the massacre and the Indian Freedom movement and especially the role of Punjab in freedom movement. I would definitely recommend visiting it if you visit Amritsar. There is no entry fee.

Take children along to visit. Its a lesson in history and this generation must know what it takes to seek independence from the colonists. Though the trip alone to Bagh wont dissuade from migration to foreign lands yet every one must visit once.
Well maintained lawns though a bit more on cleanliness is required.
