We took the 1 day Koh Phi Phi excursion with Princess Tours from Koh Lanta (Saladan Pier) that started at 8:00am. This incuded transport to and from the island, a long tail boat trip to the Viking Cave, Maya Beach snorkelling off Ko Phi Phi Leh and a stop at a monkey beach. It also included water and snack of fruit mid morning and a Thai food lunch after the long tail portion of the trip that accommodated 7 passengers. There was also an hour and a half free time on Koh Phi Phi Don before the return trip at 2:30pm . When you consider it costs a minimum of 600 Baht to get return ferry service to and from Koh Phi Phi, this excursion costing 850 Baht was a bargain. The longtail boat ride, snorkelling and lunch portions amounting to 250 Baht or about $8.30 over and above basic transport. The guys on the boats were helpful and friendly and the longtail ride was a blast as the seas were a little rough. The Thai food lunch they put on was excellent and generous. I can't comment on the condition of the snorkeling equipment as we used our own, but it certainly appeared to be in good repair. The bay where we snorkelled was excellent with a lot of marine life and few swimmers Overall we were quite satisfied and felt that we got good value for our money. An alternative is to take a modern speed boat at a cost of 1700 Baht with essentially the same itinerary. I believe the crossing is about 1/2 hour faster but they appeared to be packed with a lot more tourists and they were wall to wall when parked in Maya Bay as was the beach packed with their passengers. As far as Koh Phi Phi is concerned, you can appreciate that this place was once a paradise, but sadly it has been spoiled by uncontrolled over-development and crowding.

We have made a one day tour to Phi Phi islands with the Lanta Princess Tour. We booked this tour at the Sala Dan pier and managed to bargain a little bit the final price. Supposedly the tour would include the following: transfer from and to our hotel, snorkel equipment, buffet lunch and fruits, drinking water and sodas, life jacket, national park fee and passenger insurance. They came to pick us up 30 mins. later than the agreed time and we arrived to the boat at the last moment. In fact, the boat is a ferry that takes the participants at the one day tour and also all the passengers of the regular ferry from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi and to Phuket. These passengers leave the ferry at Koh Phi Phi Don.
After this first stop, they took us (around 20 people) to Maya bay in Koh Phi Phi Leh. Here, they told us we couldn't snorkel and we shouldn't go to the beach as a park fee would have to be paid (remember what I wrote before that the final price included the national park fee). They took us instead to the Loh Samah bay where we stopped for one hour to do snorkel. The snorkel was OK: there were lots of colorful fishes, but no corals. From there, there was a path crossing the island to get to the beach at Maya bay, which we did. After the snorkel we were served pineapple and taken to see the Pi Ley bay and Monkey beach, where a colony of monkeys was being annoyed (that was for sure not feeding...) by hundreds of tourists... We were given lunch and taken back to Koh Phi Phi Don, where we stayed for one hour. When leaving, the boat was packed with passengers and working again as a ferry to Koh Lanta.
At the end, the food was good and the sightseeing was wonderful, however we do not recommend this tour operator.

Marketed as a combined island and snorkeling adventure, the tour disappointed us. On the snorkeling side, the equipment was partly not usable due to lack of fins and mold in the tubes. The corals are almost all dead anyway :-(

The spots frequented were totally crowded. The "guide" barely spoke and barely spoke English. Only positive point: Good and sufficient lunch at a nice beach.
