Direkt am Ende der Promenade von Nong Khai am Mekong liegt dieser begehbare Stupa bzw. buddhistischer Tempel, der bei Einheimischen sehr beliebt ist.
Insbesondere am Abend zur Dämmerung bekommt man hier schöne Panoramafotos von Sonnenuntergänge am Mekong.
Ein Besuch lohnt sich gegen Abend auf jeden Fall. Allerdings sollte man aufpassen und den aktiven Insektenschutz nicht vergessen!
Uns hat es hier sehr gut gefallen.

Kann man sich mal ansehen. Die Lage direkt am Mekong ist super. Es liegt direkt am Ufer in Höhe einer umgestürzten Stupa, deren Fundamente aus dem Mekong ragen. Der Gebetsbereich mit den zahlreich aufgestellten Budhas wirkt recht schmutzig. Von der oberen Etage hat man einen schönen Blick über das Mekongtal bis zur 1. Brücke der Freundschaft

The Chedi that you see is the replica of the one that was washed down many years ago. During the low lide, you can see the old one in the middle of the river. Locals and Thai visitors come to worship the place jsut like many others. As a visitor who has nothing to relate to the place, just come by and read about this landmark. At night, the place around here is vibrant with street vendors (food) on and off the promanade.

Apparently about 150 years ago, this chedi broke off the banks of the Mekong River and ended up out in midstream. It is not even visible for much of the year: when the river is too high, it will be completed submerged. However, when the river is low, you can see part of the chedi above the water level. This was the case when we came to town. The chedi is revered by Thais, who add prayer flags and sashes to it. They also take boats out to the chedi to pray at the structure.
In recent years, a replica of the chedi has already been built on the banks. It is a white Lao-style chedi which can be seen from far away in the bright sunshine. It makes for a good end to a leisurely promenade along the banks of the Mekong.
