Visited in Oct/2023, 4D 3N trip with Toan. Trip to Pu Luong. Highlight of trip to Vietnam. The hiking was excellent, and Toan was a wonderful guide. I rode on his motorbike, and felt very safe with him driving. The homestays all had delicious food, 'western style' toilets, hot showers, wifi, electricity, and bug nets for sleeping. They are rustic but very comfortable. He knows the area very well and he took me on some very scenic hikes. I really enjoy hiking and he was able to take me on a challenging hike up the mountain. His English is excellent. He is very knowledgeable about the plants that are growing in the region. He was able to pick me up from my homestay in Ninh binh and he also helped arrange transport back to Hanoi at the end of my trip. Would absolutely recommend a tour with him.

I had an incredible 3D2N tour around the Pu Luong nature reserve. The area itself is really beautiful, but booking a tour with Toan (T2) was the best decision I could have made. We hiked along various trails I never would have been able to find, and Toan has such extensive knowledge about the area, agriculture, plants, insects (the list could go on) so I learned a huge amount about the area. Toan also shared lots of insight into local traditions and culture which was super interesting. Toans English is perfect and I enjoyed our conversations, but I also appreciated that he was also content with enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature rather than try and fill every moment with forced conversations.
In summary - Toan (T2) was a superb guide, and I cannot recommend the tour highly enough.

Incredible motorcycle trip to Pu Luong with Toan. After 3 weeks in Vietnam, this was the highlight. The place has unbelievable beautiful nature, and Toan was such a great guide in exploring it with. He’s a very well rounded individual, with perfect English, vast knowledge about Vietnam and very smart in understanding your needs and wants and customizing the trip accordingly. Going to Pu Luong with him was one of the best things I’ve done

Toan is one of the best, most professional, fun, entertaining, perfect english speaking tour guides in Ninh Binh (I learned later he knows like 4+ languages). If you are planning a short day trip (which is what we did from hanoi), he will help you plan out everything with drivers and pickup, no need to stress out about anything.
As for the actual tour, he took us to really cool off-the-beaten-path hidden spots which is exactly what we asked for, away from the crowded touristy stuff that you see in the top 10 lists. He is very flexible and has tons of knowledge about the history of all the locations, since Ninh Binh is where he grew up.
We drove around on a motorbike and got to really enjoy the countryside, he knew all the shortcuts and scenic routes. The best part is that anything you want to experience, he'll try his best to plan out for you on the spot, and he doesn't rush you like most other tour guides so you can really immerse yourself in the beautiful culture of vietnam.

My girlfriend and I found Tuan through internet and booked a 3 day trek in phu luong nature reserve with him. We were picked up in Chai Mai and dropped off again in Tam Coc. Tuan knows all the hidden gem paths in the region. He really listens carefully to what you want and acts to it. We really like to hike a bit more than the ‘standard’ tourist and also like to be in the nature without other tourists around. Tuan arranged a great tour, taking in mind our thoughts and we could not be more satisfied. To top it of we were 2 times suprised with 2 fantastic homestays with crazy views, nice rooms, and nice dinners with the local families. Tuan also guides with a lot of interesting facts about the region, nature and culture. His English is by the way the best we experienced throughout our trip in Vietnam. Surely would recommend Tuan to everyone! Mathias & Laetitia

We had a great day exploring the countryside around Van Long Nature Reserve with Toàn. We rode bikes, visited a temple, took a boat ride through caves and had a delicious lunch! Toàn was very knowledgeable about the local area, accomodating of our needs (we have 4 kids) and was great fun. I would highly recommend Toan and his tours and can’t wait to come back and explore more of the area with him. 10/10!

My husband and I were so happy we took this homestay trip with Toan, we can't emphasize enough how much we enjoyed our tour. We were picked up from Cat Ba island and driven to our accommodation in Tam Loc for an overnight stay. At all times we felt safe with the driver. We were picked up next morning for the pleasant drive to our first homestay. Toan took us on two hikes explaining many things along the way, made sure we were fed and ensuring we were ok at all times. The homestay was comfortable and the hosts friendly. The next day was another hike through gorgeous country and villages with another homestay close to a lovely waterfall. Next day back to town and cycled around, once again Toan showed us off the tourist track and we loved it. Spoilt us not being surrounded by crowds of tourists. Would highly recommend a tour with Toan. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My family of 4 adults had a great time on our adventure to Ninh Binh - more Tam Coc area. We had reached out to Toan for a private transfer by car from Hanoi to Tam Coc and two and a half days on the back of scooters around the area. Great decision, we went through places a car can not go and saw so much more than we would have been able to do. Toan had arranged the scooter drivers for us, and we had 2 young men with pretty good English and my sons enjoyed their company and practiced English with them. We had Dai one day as Toan was busy, not a problem as Dai is lovely and looked after us. Toans knowledge of the area and history makes this something special, you get so much more out of the trip and makes it much more enjoyable. We loved Tam Coc and the time spent with our guides, we would not hesitate to go back. My only disappointment was that I didn't have an extra one day to stay there. The guys took us to the bear sanctuary, mua caves, bich dong, hoa lu, tuyet tinh coc and got us a really nice lunch included. Was expensive, but totally worth it for us.

630AM picked up by Dai from Pu Luong Tours (Toan was already booked for the day). Dai was great. Spoke good English, friendly and stopped to take photos along the way. It was fun traveling on the back roads & thru villages on small trails. He also informed me on how to proceed & navigate at each place.
Trang An boat ride. 250KVND per person. 4 foreigners per boat. Got lucky, immediately connected with 3 European friends who were traveling together. Route #3 - Three caves + 3 temples including Dot Cave which is the largest/longest. Lasted about 2.5 hours. The more stops for caves + temples the longer it takes. Other routes had many more stops.
Our rower was a very nice lady who spoke a little English. Was very friendly and even took some photos of us. She did not ask for a tip, but we gave her a generous one. Also, no other boats allowed to peddle food or trinkets on the routes.
Because we were early, for multiple long stretches it was like a private tour with no other boats around.
Next, we visited Hoa Lu Citadel (Ancient Capital) 20KVND.
Have to be honest. I could have skipped this one.
But, very nearby is a fantastic spot. Tuyet Tinh Coc. 50KVND. Wow!! If on a private tour or on your own; insist on going here. Am Tien Cave + Pagoda (200 steps) . Ao Giai Lake. So beautiful and serene. Saw 2 other people here.
Next Lunch. Dai took me to a local small place to eat. Yummy. Goat Pho!
Then Bai Dinh Temple 50KVND + 30KVND each way for Electric Cart (optional). It is a huge complex. Dai's tips really paid off here. He told me which parts to see + to skip the rest. He also informed me how the electric car routes work.
The corridor of Arhat Statues had 500 Buddha Statues lined up. Bodhisattva Avalokitesvars Hall has an 80 ton Gold Coated Buddha. Bao Thap Tower (13 floors). Walk up a flight of stairs. Take elevator to 12th floor. And you will see why NB is called Halong Bay on land. From there you can walk up one more flight of stairs for another spectacular view. Also if you have short attire they will provide a cover. They also require wearing shoe covers. Keep shoes on.
Took another scenic route on return to my accommodations. Dropped off about 4PM. A great tour!

Have just done a fabulous 12 day trip with guide Toan and driver Ha. So much to say in a short space .
Toan is a very caring , considerate young man and always wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Nothing was too much trouble. He had a great sense of humour as did Ha.
His depth of knowledge was incredible: nature, geography, history, culture , food . We learnt so much from him.
Choice of locations and home stays was great . We were totally absorbed into the culture and had great times with the families. I cannot recommend him enough .
Ha was a very careful driver and we always felt safe.
To sum up , an amazing trip with 2 great guys . Felt very sad to say goodbye . We will be back to tour Ninh Binn, where they are based .

You can go to pu luong without any instructions. If you are from Ninh Binh. You can go to Nho Quan town and then go to Chi Minh. Arrive in Cam Thuy town. Follow National Highway 217. Town (Canh nang ). Turn right in the direction of the high valley. continue to move in the direction( co Lung) . Waterfalls are great. Or you can stay in Puluongholiday. Here they have two languages. English and German. The walkie-talkie guide is free. Have a great holiday in Puluongholiday !!
