Scenic Rolling Mountains beside Lake Toba

Bukit Holbung is a hill covered by grasses, south of Pangururan town at the mainland side. In addition to its location and elevation, it is one of the best places to view geological feature of Lake Toba around Pangururan, which features rolling hills and mountains with lush grasslands and sparse trees, and green bushes found at lower elevation nearer to the lake surface. Its elevation is just nice to view the lake water without too much of reflection on the water surface. The trail is clear and straightforward, and goes through many levels of increasing altitude. A short 15 min walk is required to reach a height with magnificent view. To the north, a bay with rolling hills and Pusuk Buhit Mountain can be seen while to the south is Sihotang Valley and the surrounding rolling mountains. More serious hikers can climb all the way to the top, which takes around an hour. Nature lovers would find the view here to be grandiose and exceedingly beautiful.

Rent a motorbike and climb the hill

It was about 70 kms from Tuktuk but well worth the visit for the panoramic view over Lake Toba. There is a small entrance charge and a one hour climb to the top. Unfortunately it was an extremely hot day so we did not go all the way.

super nice scenic views!

this place has super nice scenic views! The hike was literally easy for me n my friends as there was staircase walkway to the top of the first hill. but you can go further (my friends and I didnt).

Visiting this hill while rainy season. The mountain is green and fresh. We can also star at Samosir Island separated by calm and shiny Lake of Toba.

Great climb and ever greater view!

The hike itself is a little tiring, but the view makes the climb worth it. We did not summit the top of the hill as the view was pretty much the same after a certain height.

Some parts of the hill is steep, take precaution when climbing as there is no steps/handrails after the first 15mins of the ascend.
