A sublime and surreal moment spent visiting the Sahara. The simple sight of the Erg Chebbi dunes was picture perfect and I felt like looking at perfect paintings everyday. The sunrise and sunset were magnificient. Absolutely not to miss the camel rides - very gentle funny animals and a great way to go into the dunes with to visit the many picture perfect views scenery.
But the biggest credit should go to a good local guide who will make the stay memorable and surprising at every moment. We had a good one, Youssef who himself originates from the desert, so he knows everything perfectly. Despite his young age, he is very professional and attentive. He knows the right time to give explanations and share cultural information as well as moments to let us just soak in the experience by ourselves. He is super punctual and very easy going. What I like most is that he asked regularly for feedbacks even on each we had. He tried to find out what kind of activities, attractions or souvenirs we like, in order to bring us to the right places and avoid places and things that weren't our thing. Upon our requests, he brought us only to ships that sell real authentic local products at the right prices. So a very trustworthy young man, hardworking and sensible beyond his age. At the end after dropping us at our last hotel, he wouldn't even leave until he is sure the hotel has our booking correctly and we are in safe hands before saying goodbye. I truly recommend to get Youssef from Camel Trekking to guide you on your trip into the desert. You will be better off with a real local from the area and he is one.

Just came back from our 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakesh via Merzouga, and we had an excellent time throughout, particularly thanks to our driver-guide Youssef, who had both avery friendly and very professionnal attitude all along : very attentive to detail and to our needs, very knowledgeable on everything, specially on the desert part he knows so well.
Congratulations to him and thanks once again for a most enjoyable holiday throughout.

Une expérience unique pour découvrir le désert marocain - nous avons réservés directement avec Omar, en passant par son site puis par WhatsApp. Ne prenez pas peur de la demande d’acompte pour confirmer la réservation, Omar est très professionnel et sait se rendre disponible par WhatsApp pour répondre à toutes vos questions.
Sur place, notre guide Youssef est venu nous récupérer directement à notre Riad à Marrakech, et nous as conduit pendant 4 jours aux quatres coins du désert marocain. Il a été au petits soins, toujours disponible, plein de bon conseils et d’anecdotes sur la vie marocaine. Il a su s’adapter à nos envies et a rendu ce voyage unique. We didn’t have time to make the trek out to the Desert but we hired a driver, Hassan, through this company. The car was excellent (4x4) Toyota and Hassan was always on time. Would highly recommend!

This was a magical life-affirming experience. Myself and my three friends had the privilege and pleasure of driving with Hassan from Marrakech to Fez. The depth of warmth and integrity of the Moroccan and Berber people were perfectly encapsulated by Hassan, who we can't recommend highly enough. We had experiences along the way that were unpredictable and deeply heartwarming, and would not have been possible without Hassan's desire for us to have the best experience possible. His honesty, intelligence, and affability made him an instant friend.
Along the way we bounded around Kasbahs soaking in centuries of epic history, we
danced with Berbers on mountain tops and drove ATV's over the dunes of the breathtaking Sahara, we shot our own film on the set of Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra and locked ourselves in Maximus Decimus Meridius cage, before dancing once again to Berber drumbeats under the infinite stretch of stars beneath the unpolluted desert night sky. Seeing the sun rise from the belly of the Sahara fills you with uncomplicated, perfect bliss, and should be experienced by anyone searching for illumination in their lives.
The food was glorious, every Tajin seemed to top the last, and the reception from the locals wherever we stopped was affectionate, personable, and meaningful. This is a trip for adventurous souls who want to live life to the fullest. For 3 days myself and my friends were truly alive. Thank you Hassan, you legend of a man, (and Omar). We will never forget this essential life experience.

Hands down, our favorite part of our Morocco trip was our three-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
We had the most incredible driver, Hassan, who took such good care of us. He made sure to show us the most amazing sights and to give us a taste of the local culture and people. We ended up dancing with locals at a rest stop and befriending so many lovely Moroccans along the way. He was so kind-hearted and a fantastic driver. We loved every part of our tour.
If you're doing the desert tour, I really would recommend three days. It's long travel days and you would really miss out on lots of highlights along the way. When you head to the desert make sure to add ATVs to the trip. They were so much fun and I'm not even a thrill seeker. And once you're at the camp (which is out of a movie) make sure to head to the fire at the end of dinner to enjoy the music and dancing.
Cannot recommend this tour and Hassan enough!

Great 4-day trek with Hassan from Fes to Marrakech via Morocco’s desert and Atlas Mountains. Hassan was a great, safe driver - friendly and open with his culture. We’d certainly travel with Omar and Hassan again.
Day 4, especially, from Ouarzazate to Marrakech, was a perfect day. Day 1 from Fes to Erg Chebbi was great as well, and the afternoon of Day 3 was nicely balanced. While we would have preferred more hiking and sightseeing opportunities intermixed with the long drives on Day 2 and the morning of Day 3, the vistas along the drive between Erg Chebbi and Ouarzazate were spectacular. Though certainly geared towards tourists, the camel rides and desert camp in Erg Chebbi were a lot of fun, and the dunes were special.
We loved our Riad in Ourzazate - Bouchedor. In contrast, we would rate the one in Dades Valley - Auberge Miguirne Chez Ali - as a disappointment except for the delicious dinner. Our final lunch in Ait Benhaddou was quite tasty, but the other lunch restaurants tended to be heavily geared toward tour groups and served bland food significantly less flavorful than the Moroccan restaurants we chose ourselves in Chefchaouen, Fes, and Marrakech.
All in all, we would give Hassan a 5, the accommodations a 4, the food a 3, and the experience a 5.
In the future, we’d recommend Omar consider adding longer itineraries, such as a 10- or 15-day tour of the country. It would also be good to include 7- to 9-day itineraries that depart from Casablanca and Marrakech but also include the beautiful and quaint Chefchaouen, the historic Volubilis, and potentially Meknes or Moulay Idriss, depending on tour length.

After reading other reviews, my family and I were excited about this trip, but it really did not suit our travel style. The biggest issue was that we all got food poisoning and I do blame the tour operator since they pick everything for you, from lunch spots to hotels.
The whole tour was very much on the tourist circuit, with the exception of a few stops, like the fossils, which was a highlight for us. We realized this on the first day when we were brought to a lunch stop that had a fixed price and no menu, with other vans of visitors. It was one of these two pre-selected lunch stops or the hotel in Dades, that gave us food poisoning. All three members of my family ended up sick once we reached the Sahara - which was the point of the whole long, long journey. We were able to enjoy the ATV and camel to the tents before we all fell ill, but it was a rough night, including our 8 year old son and we missed out on sandboarding and sunrise camel ride. Omar did check in with us when he heard from staff we weren't eating, but did not apologize or offer much else.
We were then faced with another 6+hours drive back from the Sahara - and it was awful while ill. We had no choice. The drives are VERY long, too long. For some getting out to take a quick photo may be a good tour, but for us it was not. Dades is gorgeous, yet we didn't have a chance to do a hike or walk there. Why did we go?? For the outlook on the road?
Overall, this tour could be infinitely better if they asked upfront what interests people have and slightly cater it to people's interests. We wanted to get out of the car and walk at the beautiful natural sites. (there is literally one 10 minute walk through a gorge) and you are with busloads of other trapped tourists. It was generic, I guess that's the sum story.
The desert activities that we could enjoy were awesome though, I would say the hotels were nice except one may have poisoned us, the camp staff were so kind, there were some definite positives. Said was a good (actual) driver, I felt bad how long each day's drives were. The only thing we felt uneasy about was that as our guide our number one want is to be kept safe and healthy. That didn't happen and we never felt like he was looking out for us. Being brought to tourist trap lunch spots kind of erodes trust honestly - you can't help but feel a little scammed. Camel Trekking may try to explain away this review, but you can't explain away getting your clients sick.

I'm so sorry to hear about your illness, and to find out that you suspect our desert tour to be the cause of it, the only way of finding out whether you had food poisoning while you were with us is to provide a stool sample for testing, you probably have arranged this by your doctor, would you mind sharring it with us please?
Meanwhile, this is deeply upsetting news, as I have always made it my first and foremost priority to serve food of the highest quality to my customers and to provide a fully satisfying desert experience to all.
Please know that we take all complaints very seriously and that I shall be launching an in-depth investigation of the incident immediately. In the meantime, should you wish to return to Morocco, I will personally ensure that you get a fantastic experience and are treated to a free Moroccan meals. Sincerely,

I don't know if it is not too late but - you can ask owner for 4x4 car for transport one or both ways. Without any problems he will manage it. in my group was a girl who had stomach problems, they organised a car for her.

I just returned from Morocco family trip.. not sure if u guys already headed to Marrakech.. if not yet.. reach out to Omar n u can chose the standard 3 day 2 nites or modify n make it a tad longer if u want to chill n go slower... The driver will pick u up at Marrakech n drop u back off at the city.. book the private car for ymthe 2 of you.. it isn't crazy expensive n is worth the privacy n you make the calls of how many stops u want etc... My buddy went with another girl n booked their private car last year Dec..

We will have a car from Marrakesh and would drive to Merzouga. Is there a day trip in the desert on camels available? Would it be best to stay the night in Merqouga afterwards, or do an overnight trip in the desert? This would be in Feb. some time, or is the winter not a good time to do this?

Hi, I'm planning my camel tour in the sahara desert. I am staying in Marrakech and would have to get to Merzouga for the tour. We don't want to drive ourselves to Merzouga and we wouldn't really get there on time by bus. Any good good companies that do a pick and drop off service from Marrakech? What's the approximate price for it? Thanks!
I may be going to Morocco at the end of July and really want to go Camel Trekking, but I've been told its a bit too hot to do so, how did you find the weather since you were there in July? thank you!
