this was a great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting kandy! I especially liked the mango curry and the pumpkin and eggplant curry! so amazingly delicious! The family was so friendly and we learned many new cooking skills! definitely a must when you come to sri lanka!!

From the moment we stepped into their home (and are excitedly greeted by 3 charming, energetic, very chatty daughters!) we were made to feel so welcome. Having bought our ingredients in the market (well worth doing), we spent the next 3 hours cooking with 3 generations of the same family, all of whom had us laughing all evening. In between singing and dancing in the kitchen, there was an extraordinary amount of cooking going on (expertly coordinated so that we couldn’t mess anything up!!!). 9 veggie curries, a chicken dish, roti, and all the necessary accoutrements. A veritable feast. The result of which was without doubt the best meal we’ve had on our trip so far. I will happily admit to having been a bit apprehensive about paying a ‘premium’ for dinner - but this was the best money we’ve spent on our trip. It would be a mistake not to try.

Wir waren zum Abendessen bei der Familie und haben um ca. 18 Uhr angefangen zu kochen. Insgesamt haben wir zahlreiche verschieden Curry-Arten zubereitet, die ALLE unglaublich lecker waren. Wir empfehlen diese Erfahrung auf jeden Fall weiter. Es hat super Spaß gemacht, wir haben viel gelernt und hatten fabelhaftes Essen 😍

We can highly recommend this cooking class in Kandy! Such a kind family that welcomes you into their home and also shows you around the local food market. We learned to cook many super yummy recipes - definitely an experience to remember! Thanks so much for this unique memory during our vacation in Sri Lanka

Amazing experience of cooking class in Kandy ! The people are so kind and the food is amazing. We cooked 11 curries and learned so many things about typical Sri Lankan food ! We had such a great night and delicious meal ! You cannot miss this if you're coming to Kandy.

If you're a passionate home cook or seek out cooking classes when travelling Best Kandy Kitchen is a terrific experience. I can recommend the market tour to get your vegetables, fish/chicken and rice for the class, and a short Tuktuk ride back to the house. This is someone's private home, it is not a professional cooking venue and the teachers are not chefs.
You will be taught the recipes handed down by the mothers and grandmothers before them and it's a privilege to experience authentic cooking experience using clay pots and traditional methods.
It is clean and well organised and the food you cook and eat (3.5hrs) will be nothing like what you have experienced in your hotels. If learning about a country's culture and standard of living through food is your idea of travel then I can highly recommend this class.

Great family cooking experience. Our 3 year old daughter played with their kids while we Cooked amazing food. Now we have lots of dinner party ideas.
