Mumbai has a large Jain Community, hence some lovely and beautiful Jain Temples. The Jain community are generally quite prosperous and this is reflected in their stunning, decorative and ornate temples.
The Jain community is well known for being a peace-loving one and void violence.
Its very interesting as a tourist to visit a Jain temple. In our eyes its a must and well worth seeing.
In the forest of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park there is a famous Jain Temple called
" Trimurti Digambar Jain Mandir Temple".
The Temple is mainly visited by the Digambar sect of the Jain Community.
On entering the open air main large plinth, stands 3 huge statues of Lord Aadiinath and his 2 sons Lord Bahubali and Lord Bharata.
The statue of Rishhabbanathna is 31ft tall and the sons either side are 28ft high. The statues are rather appealing to the public in more ways than one. Don' be shy with your camera. There is also a 51ft Kirti Stambh present.
Its a very quiet, peaceful and serene place here right on the edge of the forest. The disadvantage is getting there as tourists have to pass through a shanty like village which outsiders have created, but take your transport up to the edge of the Temple. Please go slowly as the supposed road is like a dirt track.
The Temple area is nice and clean. The Reception staff are particularly nice and friendly and full of knowledge regarding the history etc. The on site staff are very polite courteous and friendly. The site also provides accommodation, which are spacious and comfortable at a very reasonable price. The food available is quite nice and pricewise cheap. Many Jain Saints do stay here to preach to the followers before moving to the next town or city.
The Temple area is quite large and has a lot to offer the tourist.
It provides a wonderful serene and calm environment. It was a great experience to be able to see and hear about another way of life and their religion. Sincere thanks folks.
Please adhere to religious Code of Dress.
