i visited this place in 1994 so many things are out of mind but i think this is a gompa with many books of Tibet

This is little off-road, so you need to hire a car to visit this place,a few old Tibetan refugees run the place and do traditional weaving, knitting and tailoring here and sell the same

This Monastery is one of the oldest in Darjeeling and has been pushed around from one place to the other from time to time.Destroyed by the Gorkha invasion and then by an earthquake the current monastery is about a km from the Mall Road.Its a place where you are bound to feel the presence of the Almighty,whatever your religious inclination might be!!

I love temple or gompa, so I pushed my friend to come to this place. It was almost too late when we arrived but the old man was pleased to open the door for us and chat with us a bit :).

From the mall square, I took the downhill road which was about 1 km. After reaching there met one of the local people who is affiliated with the monastery.He was such an amazing guy.the stories he shared with us made our journey more meaningful.now inside the monastery the artwork along with other items for rituals were so artistic that I just wanted to seat there for a long time. The upper floor is used as residential purpose of the Monks. The yard gives a spectacular view of the mountains surrounding. It wasn't that much crowded because I guess walking down that much might not be easier for everyone. But once you reach there, the view & the warmth of the locals make you forget everything.

One can harness their peace of mind and introspect by visiting this place. A Pagoda style monestery lying just beside the main road, this Buddhist temple of worship is must see attraction for visitors of Darjeeling.

Someone told us that we could walk here. Perhaps they knew of a shortcut- the way the bird flies, but the drive was an adventure and I am glad we paid for it. The last mile? Well, hire a car and find out for yourself. We were the only non-Tibetans there, and that is not saying much, as there were two other people, adults and several children playing kickball. It is beautiful. And oh so quiet. The views are amazing. There is a lot of history.
