We went on 9th August and the experience was terrible. We had pre-booked our food a day before as advised from Sundargram and yet few items were missing due to lack of proper handover !!! We spoke to a lady at Travel Monk (through which the booking was done) and the lady was at her WORST BEHAVIOUR. Neither she bothers to listen or understand and her policy is offence is the best defence, Utterly rude, inconsiderate and I was going through a whole lot of people who wrote about similar experiences earlier. It was a disaster. people serve with grumpy faces, no smiles at all. Cold food served, no tissues at the table ( we asked 4 times to get a few and given after lunch was over), half cooked food. Worst is when we spoke to that ill-mannered lady, she had all the guts to tell us that she had checked CCTV footage that we ate!!! What to do, after travelling all the way we starve us ot what? Strongly suggest that there are plenty such resorts now within West Bengal where one gets much better service. Thi place with it horrendous staff is a THUMBS DOWN all the way.

Place is good, scenic. Rooms are very ordinary and not well-maintained. Staff are horrible. For any emergency situation at night, there will be no person(staffs) to help you in that remote place because except one night guard nobody was there. Staffs came at morning 9'o clock. Foods are nice. They don't allow pets at their dinning place but cats have access in kitchen and all rooms. I think at least 30 cats were there. Not good for night stay.

Located in the vicinity of Kolkata at around 27Km from Newtown, Sundargram offers a nice gateway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We went for a family day out picnic with around 25 people and the entire day spent was well worth. The room provided was big enough for day use. The food was really very good prepared in a home made style. Overall, I would definitely recommend for a day out or even a night stay.

Extremely unprofessional from the booking stage itself. They have given a telephone no. which remains switched off till late afternoon. Hard to connect, when ON. It either keeps on ringing or engaged (without any callback). Once you connect the booking personnel (Ms. Nabanita most probably) is arrogant and unprofessional to say the least. She gave me a feeling that it was she who was doing a great favour in booking reservation at this place. Customer service at its lowest!! Didn't dare to proceed further. Got reports from friends who visited that situation is the same at location too.

Horrible, pathetic and most unexpected experience that one can ever have, that we had experienced about the place. Most striking is the insane behavior of the owner and his wife and the person's body language and his attitude, way of talking , from that one can make out that the person is a local goon . the slang language he used to the borders as ''Bloody'', ''go to hell' etc. The reason simply is they had been exposed by us in front of the other borders regarding the miscommunication, mismanagement specially regarding the food that we ordered. They had been blatantly exposed about the discrepancies of the price of the buffet lunch and the item that they mentioned to be included in the day outing package whlie we booked the package, but when served we found it was not the same. At that we objected and the owner retaliated by saying that'' apni ay price ta deben na apnar ghar debe' and that also to a lady. And further they forced us to leave the room which we had paid fully (the owner and his wife) by saying 'du miniter madhay beroben na hole ghar dhakka diye ber kore debo' . This kind of weird behavior we had not experienced ever before. So I am sharing my experience and requesting everyone to think twice before going over there.

The hotel is owned by a couple and they are RUDEST INDECENT people running the bussiness. They dont have manners and they don’t knw how to behave with customers. Worst management and service is veryyyyyy poor. Highly expensive and trust me you will not get worth of your money. Very indecent people. PLEASE DONT GO. We went on a family of 14 including ladies,elderly people and kids and it was Verryyyy bad experience. I’m never going there and highly recommmend you all to NEVER go there.
I have attached the photo of the manager please have a look and keep in mind that he thinks he can disrespect people and get away with it.

The overall experience was extremely poor. Probably the worst resort I have stayed in.
Security (0/5) - None. There is no security in the property. We had to get down from our car and open the gate of the resort. This highlights anyone and everyone can just enter the premise. Further the people working in the resort have a habit of keeping the gate open as if to invite random truck drivers, strays etc.
Rooms (1/5) - Extremely poorly done. The room resembled a under construction site with no comforts. The bathroom was extremely dirty and the flush was not working for our room (Madol). There is also a huge power crisis and we had no power in our rooms entire night
Service (-1/5) - This probably is the worst amongst all the other points. The people working seemed to be doing us a favor even by talking to us. They are either extremely underpaid or unhappy bcz of reasons unknown. Service is a pain, extremely slow, rude, unwilling and having no ownership. A special mention here for Raju the check in counter fill in person who when asked to close the main gate said - "Gate khola thakle aapnar toh kono oshubida hoche na"
Food (3/5) - Food was ok. Though slow service resulted in the rice getting cold by the time daal arrived
COVID Compliance (0/5) - None of the staff had masks. There were no sanitization measures
The cherry on the cake was the owner of the property who most probably resides some place else revealing her profession (advocate) on being told we plan to share feedback on multiple forums. The climax of the conversation was however the owner saying "Shokal bela jalaben na toh"
For people who plan to visit in future please save yourself the trouble, money and harassment and rather go some place else or sit at home.

The property is a nice attempt to build a resort (consisting of huts) in a village location. From check in till check out there was none to supervise. The confirmed services are not on time. Food is below average; service is poor; no staff bothers for sanitising or putting face mask. The bathroom stinks; no mineral water. We went for a day visit but got thoroughly disappointed.
The only positive is the property is maintained nicely. This can give a nice experience to visitors if only the management cares to improve.

To start with good part, Sundar Gram is situated amidst nature with farm land all around. The property itself is quite beautifully conceptualized with semi-mud cum concrete huts, a small pond (not cleaned), barbecue place and a small playground for guests. All the excitement ends here though. The property is quite a small one and they should book guests / picnic groups what they can accommodate. With such a small place, they booked 3 picnic groups at the same time and it was a complete mess. The bigger group completely occupied the playground as if they had booked the entire property for themselves leaving other guests settle for whatever nook or corner they could settle in for.
The worst of anything else was food. You don't expect a bland diet cum hospital taste food at a picnic outing. To start with, breakfast was horrible. We were served puri and gobi sabji. Gobi sabji taste was so bad that everyone of us had to ask for some pickles which they could not serve. Finally asked for some sugar to finish off our puris. In between served veg pakodas tasted like a street side pakoda wala makes better pakodas than them. Lunch was horrible too with similar cauliflower curry, not properly cooked rice, half cooked fish and no so tasty chicken/mutton. Evening we were served chicken pakoda which were already fried in the morning and they re-fried them and served them in the evening.
In short, there are far better places in and around Kolkata for day picnic and weekend trips and this place could very well be avoided.
Definitely would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

I want to visit with my 15/20 family members for a day get together, and back on same day evening. You will provide breakfast,lunch,evening tea and also provide One 2beded room for our rest.

I would partially differ from Indranil6, in the sense that while a day out may be acceptable, I wouldn't recommend spending the night with family unless ofcourse there's been a drastic change in the services and cleanliness of the beds, linen and toilets !!
As I had mentioned in my review earlier, I still believe that this is a wonderful concept gone wrong due to extremely inefficient service and poor maintenance. After all, in the hospitality business one cannot afford to charge guests and expect them to make compromises.
How can I make the booking and whether they welcome unmarried couples?

You have to book in advance through their booking partner online. Call Timing: 11am to 6pm. I don't think they allow unmarried couples for night stay. But you can do a day trip with or without family and they provide a private DBR room till 6pm for day trippers.

Yes they provide package meal (breakfast/hi tea/lunch/snacks) for day trippers. Veg Rs. 500, Non veg Rs. 700 per head.

None other than Sundar Gram. The adjoining village is called Rajendrapur and Sundar Gram is just the name of the resort not the place.

Hi I guess I have it in my post & you can get details price list into their website unless it has changed.
Rooms are from 1600 till 2000 ( Non AC) AC may add another 300 on top of it.
Breakfast I guess 150 , Lunch/Dinner 250 onwards as per your choice
