Wonderful for way to pass an afternoon with the kids. You don’t need more than an hour, there’s free parking including free admission. Great chance for the toddlers to dress up in cowboy outfits and “ride“ a horse on the saddles. Lots of photo ops

My family and I visited the Mooseum in Montgomery. The museum is opened Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm (It is closed from 12pm-1pm for staff to go to lunch). It is closed Saturday and Sunday. The admission into the museum is free. It is wheelchair accessible. Parking lot is free to park for visitors only. It takes less than an hour to tour. Cameras are allowed for taking pictures.
There are about 6 rooms to explore. There is The View from Paster to Plate, Hoofprint's Through Alabama, The Cow Pen, The Cowboy Arena, The Grilling Deck, and Slim's Kitchen.

Had a few minutes to kill so stopped in. If you have little kids it's probably worth it. It talks about the beef industry and had some interesting displays. It's pretty small but it's free. Not really meant for adults

We had to stop in Montgomery for the night so we used this opportunity to visit the place. It is fine if you have 30 or so extra minutes to spend, have young children, and have no wish to spend money. Otherwise, don’t even waste your time.

Special Note they do close at noon sometimes for lunch - There are 3 major rooms. One filled with the facts and the journey of the cattle industry from it's beginning in our country to present time. Displayed interestinly on the walls. Another room has an interactive character that gives yous information in an entertaining way and then there is a more hands on room room with props to help you understand and appreciate other parts of the cattle industry beyond just beef. I am sure it is a great school or church field trip with tours giving you more info but also a nice little family stop to learn and spend quality time interating and playing. It is free and there is parking behind the building and even next door where there is parking for the Archieves and History Museum which is also free and a great way to spend the day or a combined us of a rainy or hot day.

This is a great little museum about the cattle industry. Took my four year old son and he really enjoyed it. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there which was just the right amount of time. Everyone learned a little something. My son had a good time playing in the room with the dress up clothes, saddles, and kitchen. Great little stop if you are looking for something to do. Free admission and the staff is very friendly and informative.

We visited this small museum geared around the beef industry. Something for everyone. Kids loved the dress up and saddles!

We stopped in Montgomery to get off the road and stretched our legs. A few blocks down the street from the capital building was the cattleman's association building. Located on the ground floor was the Mooseum. We enjoyed learning about the cattle industry and playing with the interactive exhibits. We took many photos and it was a highlight of our stops for the day before we arrived at our destination.

After several disappointments in Montgomery with other attractions The MOOseum came through for us. Aimed mostly at kids (seemed set up for school groups/excursions), we two adults found enough to interest us to stay about an hour. There is information about cows, farming cattle, beef and everyday items you probably use but didn't know contain cow/beef by-products. There is also a dress up area for kids, a kitchenette (probably for when school groups visit), interactive displays (although one was broken when we were there), Coco the 'cow' and Dusty the Longhorn, free recipe cards and a gift shop with some reasonably priced merchandise. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful.
This would be a good stop for anyone home schooling younger children or anyone interested in cattle and beef.
NOTE: The MOOseum is actually in the Alabama Cattlemen's Association building and there are no signs for the MOOseum visible from the road (we drove past twice). Just look for 'The Beef Wagons' vans with large cows on top outlining the various beef cuts in the car park and you will have found it.
This would be a good stop for anyone home schooling younger children or anyone interested in cattle and beef.

This site is small and oriented toward children, but is still interesting. It provides a nice overview of cattle ranching in Alabama and is worth seeing if you are in the area and are interested in ranching or farming. They do close for lunch.

What are the hours of this attraction and can you just walk in or do you need to request a tour?

You do not need to request a tour for a small family but if you would like to come when we do not have a large group touring you are welcome to call ahead. We are open Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm. We close daily from 12pm to 1pm for lunch. Hope to see you there!
