The facility highlights guest artists in addition to its Costa Rican art. I would have preferred to see less of the guest focus and more Costa Rican art.

Beautiful little museum which once upon a time was a small airport and you can see the old control tower at the top. Three main areas, a beautiful mural on the top floor and below is a great mix of modern and older art, with great variety, plus an outdoor area with beautiful sculptures. There were also young people sitting enjoying drawing the sculptures and relaxing, it wasn’t busy at all and had a lovely, tranquil feel, exactly as you’d expect at an art museum.

Holy cow it’s a great place in the historic airport building. Art indoors, out and built into the amazing woodwork in the building itself. Great variety of mediums - art installations in fabric and video in addition to sculptures, drawings, paintings and photographs. Pleasantly surprised to see art from as recently as 2022 on display. Certainly a long way from an old, stuffy, stereotypical art museum. Plan for 1-1.5 hours & take a taxi or an Uber unless you are already near La Sabana park or the University of CR.

It was an unexpected exhibit, full of works by an alternate group of Costa rican people. it also was free by chance. highly recommend

If you want to see local art and some interesting exhibits this FREE museum is the place to go. The building itself has a fascinating history. The location is in a huge park in the center of the city. We wanted to donate to the museum in appreciation but they don’t take donations!

Tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar el museo durante 1 hora, tiempo suficiente para admirar pintura, grabados, escultura y demás manifestaciones de artistas que quieren abrirse paso expresando sus obras. Diferentes estilos en un mismo edificio plagado de historia antigua pero con aires contemporáneos y artistas cosmopolitas. A destacar la sala superior con los grabados en sus paredes que nos cuenta la historia antigua y no tanto de Costa Rica

This is an interesting collection of several contemporary artists in Costa Rica's cultural history. The building itself is intriguing to walk around and I spent some time sketching n the courtyard after looking at the work. It's free and the staff are helpful.

This museum is in a building which was used as an airport terminal building .
It is free and certainly worth a visit. The building itself is a marvel and the waiting room for dignitaries ( now called the golden room) is a highlight. There are several sculptures outside worth a visit. Sadly, most of the descriptions are in Spanish so google translate is a necessity unless you just wish to admire the work…which we did.
The museum opens t 9 am and we had the place to ourselves other than the cadre of attendants who were very helpful. Five stars.

Leider liegt dieses Museum nicht ganz im Zentrum und es ist relativ abenteuerlich, über eine mehrspurige Strasse, auf welcher Fussgänger nicht respektiert werden, zu gelangen. Die zeitgenössischen Gemälde und Skulpturen sind eindrücklich. Eindrücklich war auch die strikte Einhaltung der Corona-Massnahmen durch das Personal - man musste sich via QR-Code auf einer Website registrieren.

Es un museo muy interesante puesto que fue un aeropuerto hace años y es pequeño sin embargo tiene muchas cosa interesantes ya que fuera del museo esta el extenso parque, la parte que me gusto más fue el salón dorado en donde cuenta la historia del país hasta el año en que construyeron ese inmueble.

It's for free. Do not expect a large museum, though, in case you are used to the large European museums. It's basically composed of a large main hall at the entrance, two small rooms at the North side, about a Southern room sectioned in three, two rooms at the Eastern side and a foyer looking West. Add to it, there's a beautiful room upstairs, reached through a lovely staircase and narrow passages that look over the main hall. Can be complicated if you suffer from fear to heights, but the view of the Waiting Room of the old airport is worth it.
