Yes of course !!

We used Sapa sister. They have fantastic guides with good English. This company employs women only. Our guide is very knowledgeable with routes that cater different needs. We ended up with a medium hard trekking route and was able to see the picturesque rice Terrace valley and the waterfalls too within 2 days. Most of these girls don’t have very high educations but very smart. They all learned English on their own. Trekking is one of the few employment opportunities for them to make money to support their family.

We are 3 not overly fit 50+ year olds and we chose the easier trekking options. We walked a fair distance the 1st day - 12km but only the last part up to the homestay was really steep. The majority was up and down reasonable gradients. On the 2nd day we chose an easy option as blisters were causing some pain and discomfort. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I visited in August and had the same pouring rain and thunderstorms in the morning then cleared. I think 3 yr would be too young for these treks. 5 yr might be ok, maybe. It’s slippery, but gumboots there that all the local guides wear. About $6USD and super comfortable with great grip. December would be winter which I think would be better for walking if you go.

If it’s a dry day, light walking shoes and t shirt with light jacket. Sun cream... If it’s wet the earth becomes very slippery and sticky, a lot of clay. So wellies or something water proof and that doesn’t clog with mud on the feet, a good rain coat and waterproof trousers. If it rains hard, walking poles will be useful for extra support, it can become difficult to stay upright on the slippery mud!

We didn't have any problems with this and didn't hear of anyone that did

Hi I am not sure if this is too late for you. I recommend the Sapa Express, as you get to travel during the day and see everything. I have a bad back, and I found this very comfortable (I take my lumbar roll everywhere and used it on the bus).

Hola Paloma, estuve en Sapa en agosto y una noche de hotel en un hotel medio (yo estuve en el Sapa Centre Hotel el cual recomiendo) + 2 días de trekking con guia + comidas, te pueden costar, para 2 personas, 130 dólares aprox.
