First, when I walked in I wanted a picture of these huge beautiful Kachina statues on their wall that, if they're for sale, will never be within anyone's budget. But they don't allow pictures of anything! What? What if I want to send a pic to my mom to see if dad would like it? Then the restroom smelled bad.
I thought they were going to have hand crafted LOCAL knives. Nope. They're made in Pakistan!! And they're priced at least double the value, then supposedly given a discount after. Absolutely outrageously priced, even for a tourist trap.
I went down the road without leaving those snobs any of my hard earned money.

This is a great experience, they sell moccasins, dream catchers, drums,beautiful handmade rugs and other souvenirs! Stop and check it out on your next trip

A nice store with a good selection and friendly staff. My wife found some good jewelry pieces, and we got AZ gifts for the family, including books. One of the ladies helped give us alternate directions when I-40 was backup right outside the exit which was much appreciated!

Terribly rude staff. Mask police. Give this place a miss and keep on driving. We were hoping to spend a bit of money here on souvenirs. Sad.

Samantha helped us my wife got a beautiful necklace,Ring and 2 Pairs of earrings.Then we found a piece of Pottery Loved the store.We stopped and got some jewelry 4 years ago .

We went into this store first. Found a good price on blankets but the rest of the items were really expensive and the cashier was unhelpful and borderline rude. They do have a large selection of items. Walked over to Cree's and found better prices and they were a lot friendlier.

After entering Arizona on I-40, we stopped in at Chee’s. There are indeed some nice Native items in this store, but they are priced higher than if you venture into shops within towns in NM or AZ. In fact, later in our trip, we were in Window Rock, AZ and I purchased a piece of pottery from the actual artist at the Navajo veteran’s memorial. It was reasonably-priced and I got to chat with the artist that made the piece. Anyway, this is a nice store and they do have a restroom.

FYI, the nearby rest stop is currently closed for repairs. I happened to have visited here three times now in two weeks. I am traveling and found this to be a decent spot to stop and use the restroom or get a snack inside.
They have a real good selection of souvenirs- many types to pick from. My family has purchased the blankets in the back of the store. They have a good deal on (2)Mexican style throw blankets for $4.99 each - limit 2 per person.
These are great for many uses and nice for the $. (car back seat protectors, over chairs-inside or outside on a porch, etc..)
Staff is very nice and not pushy at all.
Stop in, nice for everyone.

This place has about 7 signs on ea. side of AZ and NM border. In city of Houck, AZ. Ortega has a very good selection of jewelry - gold, silver, and brass, besides other gifts and touristy stuff. Bought a pendant there 2 years ago at 1/2 price of Gallup or Albuq., NM; much less than Santa Fe, NM. The older lady behind counter is quite knowledge- able about specific stones and jewelry - most helpful. Not pushy or aggressive. just nice people. For food, there's a very small sit down eats; had a great 1.2 of a big hot dog for $1.50! Gave me a free glass of water. Worth stopping into this store, right off freeway, if u like Native American jewelry, want a bite to eat, or use restroom.

Staff was helpful and items were not overly high priced. We stopped while traveling from Louisiana to Nevada. Bought a few items. If in the area, stop and see what is for sale.
