I purchased a ring with two eternity band and paid for it to be soldered. The jeweler did not like how I wanted it put together so he changed to what he liked. I did not like it so they said they would unpair them and refund me the money owed me. It’s been 4 months and Brown's will not give me my R1450 back they demanded a copy of my ID, all bank details proof of a letter from the bank that it’s my account a letter from the bank and still won’t give me my money. Many excuses instead of just refunding the money on the card I purchased my rings now they want me to ask friend if they bank at BOA so they can send it to a friend. I live in the USA and I will NEVER buy from Browns again. Worst customer service from the depart that should refund me. Now I’ll have my rings soldered the way I wanted it done originally here in the states. So any tourists beware of purchasing anything from Browns. You will get taken

CHECK YOUR BROWNS DIAMONDS FOR CRACKS.
Browns has left us no choice but to share our story on social media.
The original ring was purchased at Sandton Browns. I had my engagement ring resized to a smaller size by Browns. When I got it back, I noticed that there was a gap between the last diamond and the band on one side. The manager at Hyde Park looked closely at the ring and assured me nothing was wrong and that sometimes that just happens when the ring is resized. The first example of shoddy craftsmanship.
A month later, our family jeweller picked up that 3 diamonds on the band were cracked. Taking it back to Hyde Park, the manager said she did not see any cracked diamonds but would send it for assessment. Her attitude was absolutely disgusting.
I received a new ring a month after the workshop confirmed that indeed there were cracked diamonds. I took the new ring to be checked by an independent jeweller and there we found another cracked diamond in the band.
BROWNS JEWELLERY IS LEAVING THE WORKSHOP ALREADY DAMAGED.
I would highly recommend that you get your Browns jewellery checked by an independent jeweller because Browns stores will not tell you if anything is wrong unless you send it in to their workshop.

DO NOT BUY JEWELLERY FROM THIS COMPANY. I’m not one to complain or write reviews however I’m that shocked that this company operates as it does I feel compelled to let others know. We bought a diamond engagement ring, wedding ring and earrings from this company over the space of six months. Total cost of @ £15,000 Sterling. Each item had faults with them:
Engagement ring diamond stone tilted and claw not over it properly, advised not to wear it incase stone fell out.
Wedding ring cake not over the diamonds properly. Earrings back broke even though they claim to be superior due to it clicking in place? They took 6 months to fix and return the rings from South Africa as they had to be sent there to their “workshop”. I do not wear the rings now as I have no faith in this company. Please be careful and I would advise you to go elsewhere.

Thank you, Trudy, at Cradlestone Mall, for driving 100's of extra miles for us. Trudy drove all the way from Krugersdorp to Potchefstroom on Friday, 7 May (after hours), to deliver my daughter's 21st birthday earrings. She then drove back to Krugersdorp. I cannot begin to express my gratitude. Thank you, Trudy.

My ring had to be sent for sizing the day of pickup which was a few days before Christmas because the sale person didn't not order the correct size and forgot about doing her job. When I went to pick the ring in January 2021 it was poorly made and it look like it was welded together. BROWN'S HAS LOST THEIR REPUTATION AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AGAIN

The most awful experience at Browns in Westfields White City. First my ring had a crack, they charged me to get it repaired and then when it came back it had marks on the band. When it went for a further repair it came back with 2 stones missing. They agreed to replace my ring but this was just before lockdown. I have had no ring now since March and all of my engagement plans have been ruined. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

My husband bought my engagement ring at the Stratford store. Less than 3 years later, one of the diamonds was loose, to the point when I could swivel it around completely, and I had to stop wearing it. My husband emailed the branch twice but we have had no response back. Its very disappointing considering we paid a good amount for the ring and loose diamonds this early is something we wouldn’t expect, or at least hoped to have been rectified. Not the sort to complain but just disappointed that we haven’t had a response or for myself to wear my ring which I love.

We had our wedding ring made by browns - not even worth writing it with a capital B - first off they got the design totally wrong, then the diamond fell out and we were told it is our fault, then we luckily found the diamond, had it returned and fixed, fetched it again and again the diamond got loose, we were told they would cover the transport and insurance of the ring since we had once again had to return it to them from Windhoek, now they are dead quiet about the refund, the ring is "somewhere" sent from one place to another to be returned " soon"...this all seems simple - but living in Namibia we had to travel to SA to return the ring only to receive bad service then following up through costumer service only left us frustrated and constantly being pointed in another direction which left us with no alternative other than getting someone in JHB to help us follow up - its been 7 months and my wife still does not have a decent 30k ring on her finger..

My 5th wedding anniversary is around the corner and sadly I don’t have a wedding ring again.
My husband proposed to me 5 ½ years ago. He bought my ring at #Brownthediamondstore. Since I’ve had the ring, 8 diamonds have fallen out. My ring has spent more time in repairs than on my finger! Last year, I demanded that they remake my ring. They agreed. Less than a year later, another diamond fell out. Now they are saying that I have been negligent with the ring. They have checked the ring and they have found knocks on it! I don’t do boxing, don’t go to gym, don’t do dishes, or shower with my ring. I work on a PC all day and I drive. How in the hell would I have managed to knock the diamond out of the ring?
I'm now wearing a R40 ring. I’ve been in their store, banged it on their counter and guess what??? No stones dislodged! Do they think I’m dumb or something?
I’ve been speaking to AMY from their Customer Care, or should I say “Customer DON’T CARE” dept. She has been totally useless and very condescending. She has made it very clear to me that it was my fault that the diamonds keep dislodging. She also pointed out that they have remade the ring for me last year so I should be grateful that they did me this favour. And if I want the ring repaired, I should pay R1600.
She also suggested that I go into their stores and see if there is another ring in their range that I would like to swop my ring out with. There was nothing in the same price range. I found another style similar to my ring which was more expensive. I asked them if they could design one for me in my price range and she flat out refused to give me that option.
I demanded that they give me my money back for the ring. AMY then told me that I would only get back the money that was paid to them 5 ½ years ago, and yet the appraisal amount has almost doubled?
After posting my complaint on Hello Peter I came across 5 pages of complaints against #Brownthediamondstore. Browns did not respond to most of them.

Has anyone had any success with getting a refund from Browns? They are ripping off people and nothing is done about it?

the price is irrelevant as the quality is so poor. You will constantly have trouble with your piece and have a constant battle to keep getting it repaired and asked to pay further money. Save yourself time and hassle and go elsewhere.
