We had a great time!! Grant was an excellent guide. He arrived early, told us all about the area as we traveled to the safari, and ensured we had everything we needed. The safari guide was very knowledgeable and ensured we had a diversity of encounters and saw a wide variety of animals. It was a once in a lifetime experience that we will carry with us! I would highly recommend Wild Safaris to anyone traveling to this area. From our booking to our drop off back at the shop, they communicated, were extremely knowledgeable, and ensured we had an amazing experience.

Thabo is an experienced guide with a wealth of knowledge. Together with Lindo they were the perfect dream team to see Durban from lots of different sides. The tour involves different people so that you always have the 'best person for the job' and different small businesses and organisations can participate. The day just flew by. We can wholeheartedly recommend the tour.

Apologies for the delay meant to get this to you sooner.
The communication from the get go was amazing having attempted to do this tour in August of 2018 we were unable to make it to Lesotho so I said when in Durban for the rugby I would make an effort to make the tour. Quick Google led me to Wild Routes the website the feedback and all that's in between made me feel assured and comfortable on booking this trip. Not to go into too much detail but my experience with another company wasn't as pleasant and straight forward.
My schedule was tight but with a bit of back and forth they managed to fit me in as a solo. The night before the trip I met someone who was eager to come along also, the staff were more than accommodating to organise the tour for my friend also. Very quick turnaround which impressed me more.
An early start on the morning with a 6am departure Grant was our assigned driver to bring us to the collection point, conversation was not to a minimum we all found a common interest and he was very information and humorous along the route. The car was comfortable clean and a welcome addition of a blanket and a bottle of water (greatly needed following a heavy night after the game). Grant pulled out all the stops and made the journey more enjoyable to and from the drop off point.
Onto the highlight which of course was the Sani Pass for me absolutely in awe of this place alot of changes since I was last there particularly no snow which in a way was a bonus along with our driver Mo. He made the journey incredibly informative giving us all information of the area along with wildlife while adding his quirky sense of humour to it. Commendation for his driving abilities as its no easy task going up the pass I was upset to hear of the future planning of it to be renovated to a smooth path, it takes away the complete charm I feel and of course will have a knock on effect for all things tourism. Hopefully that won't happen too soon !
We made it in great timing to the top of the pass taking in the amazing views along the way honestly I could do it every day just for the views alone .
We then made it to Lesotho border, I'm an avid collector of coins and notes Mo went out of his way to make sure I got some and gifted me 20 Maloti for which I greatly appreciate it's not often people would offer such a gesture although small it meant alot !
The village tour gave great insight into how the Lesotho people live and the locals were very friendly giving us their insights and offering some bread. The bread well I could write a whole chapter on it but honestly the nicest bread I've ever tasted. Pity I didn't bring some jam or butter had I known!
A quick look around the village then back to the highest pub in Africa. As an irish man I felt a duty had to be done on visiting this pub and was glad to have finally had a few beers there. An amazing little spot with some epic views over the pass. Mo again filling us with knowledge of everything in the area and was happy to share a non alcoholic beverage with him.
Our day ended quicker than I hoped but that's the joys of quick travel . I can't recommend this company enough from start to finish I felt very welcome and taken care of. Don't hesitate to book if ever in the Durban region!

I got a transfer from Durban to Makhasa Game Lodge with David from Wild Routes. Truly the best! He was on time, drove nicely and so friendly. Such a pleasure!

We started our stay in South Africa with our driver/guide, Thabo Mokgobe on March 29, 2024 and we had a nice tour (Kruger park, Saint Lucia, etc.) for 8 days. Thabo transmitted his energy, enthusiasm and knowledge among our group. He was always flexible and helpful!

Brilliant trip to the Drakensberg to visit the incredible rock paintings, enjoy stunning landscapes and see Mandela Capture museum.
The whole tour was outstanding from our friendly and wise driver David to the expert Iintuition of anthropologist Jeremy. Only the bumpy roads put a dampener on the 12 hour trip to the Midlands.
I can't recommend this tour too highly - it gave us a totally new perspective on South Africa - prehistoric, past and present

A great day trip into the hills to visit the famous rock art. Long drive from Durban with super safe driver David. Jeremy provided expert and entertaining interpretation of the rock art which is located in stunning landscape.
Delicious lunch stop and a quick visit to Mandela Capture museum.
We really enjoyed our 12 hour tour with the lively company of Jeremy and David.
Would highly recommend.

Was trying to book a custom trip from Richards Bay based on our cruise schedule. Found Wild Routes and they recommended Manyoni private reserve. Best decision we made the whole trip. We went to a park from another port, and they had a handful of animals. Manyoni had herds of some animals with a good number of everything they had. Saw many types in the morning. Then after lunch our hut for the lions began., Finally our guide found them--8 lay sleeping on the riverbank. We sat there for over half an hour watching them. Best trip of our cruise and great service.

A terrific day out with our wonderful guide, Thabo! (He made it so much more than a ‘tour’).
Lots of interesting story sharing and opportunities to immerse in everyday life, without the tacky ‘song and dance’. Lunch in the village was a wonderful experience and delicious! The Muthi market was excellent, albeit a little confronting for my children.

I don't know where to start. All in all this safari was the highlight of our trip! From the start, working with Justin the founder of Wild Routes was easy and great with communicating to us about pick up and drop off information, and was very speedy in replying when I had questions. Grant who transported us to the Amyoni reserve was a wealth of info about the region and also had great suggestions for us about other things to do for the rest of our trip. He was super courteous and very personable and started our day off right. Our game driver, Mzamo, who took us out on safari was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and very friendly and engaging. We did the one day big five safari and it didn't disappoint! Mzamo got us as close to the animals as he could while respecting safety. At one point we were within 3 meters of a lioness, and at another we were the just as close with a cheetah and her cubs while they were feasting on a freshly caught impala. It was amazing! We saw a wide variety of wildlife in the reserve, Giraffe, cheetah, Impala, wart hog, wilderbeast, zebra, rhino, lion, just to name a few. Just remember there is no guarantee what you'll see as this is not a zooand these are animals in the wild, but know that you will have an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend Wild Routes and it is a very good value for your hard earned money! Thank you Justin, Grant, and Mzamo for an amazing trip! We will be back again for sure.
