2nd time I’ve played here.
Going downhill in condition since last visit.

We had a great time staying and playing in the executive loft with the pool table. This would be a great room for 4 to stay and play a few rounds. The course is beautiful, in great shape, and off the beaten path so it feels exclusive and private. The flowing water on a few holes was gorgeously worked into the natural landscape and made for a beautiful hazard. Brian made sure our accommodations were comfortable and our golf was fun. The two things I would improve is tee time communication and the food on the course. There was a frost delay so our tee time was moved up, with the expectation that we would end up playing about the same time as our originally scheduled tee time. We got to the practice facility more than 1 hour ahead of our originally scheduled time, expecting we would have time to warm up. We were told people ahead of us didn’t show up and we were up next, with absolutely no time to warm up. I think this could have been communicated better. It would have been fine if we were told this would be our new tee time, we could have planned better and shown up earlier to warm up. The way it worked out, we unfortunately felt quite rushed when we thought we were showing up over an hour early. If we didn’t show up an hour early we could have missed our tee time completely because of the miscommunication. Again, the course is gorgeous though and worth the trip. My elbow was hurting and I didn’t play well, but we plan to come back injury free and enjoy the course more! The food on the course is quite lackluster, so if you are able to cook in the stay and play room that may be a better choice. Although, the cornhole, and resident donkey entertained us at the BBQ station.

The golf course is in ok condition but customer service at this course is horrible and does not live up to Troon standards. I had a Bushnell speaker that I couldn't use on the course due to no cell reception, so I put the speaker in the back of my cart. After the round, I returned the cart, tipped the kid and went home. When I got home I realized I left the speaker so I called the course. My initial phone went to voice mail and I never received a return call. A couple days later I called again and my call was transferred. An employee came on and asked if I could wait and put me on hold. After about 15 minutes I figured he wasn't coming back so I hung up and called again. This time the person who answered said she could help me but then came back and said my speaker wasn't there. So I guess the kid I tipped is a thief who decided to steal the speaker. I used the customer service area on their website and sent my concern to the powers that be. Of course, they never responded and I guess they are ok with employees who are thieves.

As is noted in other recent reviews, the pace of play is horrific, try six hours this past Saturday. That is bad enough, but having a Head Pro, Mark Sutherland who resorted to threating to call the police on us if we did not leave the course immediately. The sad story continues below.
Teed off at 9:00, waiting extensively on every shot, 1 hour to play the first three holes. Called the pro shop, had Rangers on the course, apparently unable to do anything about it. After a 3 hour front nine, we decided to try and figure something out on our own. Figured due to the 110F heat, the tee sheet would start to lighten up by noon. Found the Starter on the first tee, and asked permission to go off on the first tee. “Yeah, course is bad, there has been a gap, just a twosome off in the past 20 minutes, go right off the first tee”.
Ran into the morning traffic by the eighth hole. Guess who is waiting on the tenth fairway, a young Ranger. Told us we played 18 holes, and we must leave the course. We explained our discussion with the Starter, told him we planned on playing more than 18 holes that day and would gladly pay whatever was needed. We knew they track golf carts, so not like it was a mystery what we were doing. He stated the pro will not let us continue, and we MUST leave the course. Well if Mark Sutherland wants us to leave the course, he will need to tell us himself, after he hears our side of the story.
Mark roles out, implies we were trying to “take advantage of the situation by getting in more holes”. He then tells us part of the reason for the back up is our group, as we were not on the tee sheet. All ridiculous comments to make. As Mark realized we intended to continue, he said he would call the police to have us removed. So we left. With Mark Sutherlands attitude to us, no wonder the course is screwed up, and has no idea how to manage the pace of play.
What a shockingly bad experience, far worst of my 40 years in golf, will never return.

Had a fantastic experience here. Played in late April 2022. First off, and most importantly, the golf course was in perfect shape. Greens were lightning fast, but consistent. The best greens I have ever putted on.
I was concerned about the full experience, as other reviews mentioned a terrible experience with staff. However, we found the opposite. Check-in was great. The guy at the counter was friendly, joking with us, and really enjoyable. The cart guys were sociable as well. Asked us questions about our trip and were genuinely interested.
We had a run-in with a Marshal on the 5th or 6th hole. He came up to us and mentioned that we were slow and needed to speed it up (He was right - we got off to a slow start and weren't making up the pace). He was nice about it, and we made an effort. 2 holes later, he came up to us and thanked us for fixing the issue and told us to enjoy the round and we were back on the good list. After the round, we were having a drink and he made a point to stop by and thank us for coming out and for picking up the pace for him.
I do wish they had a better pro shop and the drinks were on the expensive side, but it didn't diminish our round.
Yes, it's a drive out there. But, you know that....so why people write bad reviews about obvious things like location is very odd to me.
We loved out experience there. Every time I go down there, I'll make a point of playing here.

Mark E Sutherland is one of the worst golf professionals in Arizona. The rate of 300 per person was reasonable and I was excited to play until Mark told me that I had to get into a cart with 3 people due to legal reasons. The rest of the staff at Quintero golf club was amazing and I am sorry they have to see Mark everyday. DO NOT PLAY AT THIS GOLF COURSE. YOU WILL HAVE A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Course in great shape greens very fast. Far from anything, so quiet and serene. Staff were fine, but not overly friendly. Too pricey as compared to the competition

Hands down a beautiful course and it was in great shape. It has it’s oddities such as a very long (at least 5 minute) drive to the practice area/first tee, but it’s worth the long drive to get there (we drove over an hour to get to the course). There are water stations/bathrooms about every 4-5 holes which is convenient.
Unfortunately, my experience was considerably dampened when I learned that I could have booked through GolfNow for the exact same tee time and saved nearly $80! Instead, I did the courteous thing and called the pro shop directly to book my tee time. The pro shop charged me $260 (including taxes and fees). On golf now, it was $172 (plus taxes and fees). When I brought this to the attention of the person in the pro shop, I got a response of “that’s weird” and a very lame excuse as to why the guy I was paired with paid $80 less than me. I get it - this is my fault for not checking all possible avenues to book a tee time, but to me, that is really poor customer service. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
We saw the beverage cart once in 4.5 hours. They have a person stationed between 3 and 4 and 7 and 8 (I think) that you pass twice (same station), but she had packed up and left by the time we passed the second time and there is no turn window. You can order food from the golf cart and they will bring it out (with 45 minutes notice), but the options are limited and not worth the price). There is not really a good bar or restaurant to sit at afterwards.
In summary, if I had only paid $172, I probably would return because the scenery was amazing and the course was in great shape, but to drive an hour and pay $260…probably not.

We had a great experience golfing at Quintero. The course was in great condition and the views throughout were breathtaking at times. Some nice high vista views. We had wildlife encounters as well with two bobcats, a family of javelina’s and lots of rabbits. Will definitely return next time we head back to the Scottsdale area. Staff was friendly as well. Hope they can get a nice clubhouse someday. Only thing missing.
