Our Tomcar tours depart from the RoadRunner Saloon. It’s on I-17 at exit 232. (17 miles north of the 101.) The departure location is in North Phoenix, 700 yards Northeast of Phoenix City Limits. “New River” isn’t a town. It is just a zip code designation within the Phoenix Metro area. Our departure location is one of the closest departure locations to Scottsdale of any of the area off-road tour companies. (There are no significant off-road trails in Scottsdale.)

This is the detailed answer to your question from the Desert Wolf Tours website. —————— We are a group guided adventure that takes a convoy of vehicles out into the desert. Most of our Tomcars are 4 seaters. Groups of 3 or 4 will have their own private car. Depending on the mix of guests that we have for your scheduled tour time, a group of 2 may or may not have another group of 2 in their car. That said, all guests will have plenty of time to drive if they choose and are sure to have a spectacular time. Are you a group of 2 that would like to reserve your own private car? We have you covered. You may reserve your own private vehicle at the time of booking for a nominal upgrade fee.

Hmmm - I think there was an age limit. All info is on their website. Yes there are seat belts - but not sure they’d secure a 3 year old. Give them a jingle - very friendly & helpful!

The most economical way is to rent a car in Scottsdale. Many of the resorts have rental cars on the premises.

Typically, our professional guide will drive his own vehicle and lead the guests on the tour. Guests drive and follow the guide car. But, if you don't feel comfortable driving, we can always arrange for you and your friend to ride in the guide car with the guide. As for the sunset tour, we only offer that from June 1 through Sept 14. Beginning Sept 15, we return to our normal tour schedule of a morning tour that departs at 8:30 am and an afternoon tour that departs at 2:00 pm.

Are their restrictions for riders (age, etc.)? No. Our vehicles are very safe and we leave the minimum age to the discretion of the parents or guardians. We have had kids as young a 1 year old who enjoyed our tours. We just ask that the parents or guardians take care of their children on the tour so that all the guests have an enjoyable time. All riders under the age of 18 must wear a DOT-approved safety helmet which we provide.

Generally, you 3 would have your own vehicle, so it would require one of you to drive. But, if you has a special circumstance, please call our reservations number and we will be happy to see if we can accommodate you.
