เรามาถึงเซดอนาและตรงไปที่หัวทางนี้ ที่จอดรถมีขนาดเล็กดังนั้นเราจึงต้องจอดรถตามถนน เส้นทางนี้มีทางแยกสั้น ๆ ไปยังพื้นที่กระแสน้ำวน เราปีนขึ้นไปบนเนินเขาและวิวก็ไม่น่าเชื่อ เราได้รับความบันเทิงจากชาวบ้านไม่กี่คนที่ให้คำแนะนำและแม้แต่การเล่นฟลุต ฉันรักทุกช่วงเวลาของมัน เราเพิ่มเส้นทางส่วนใหญ่และมันเปลี่ยนจากเส้นทางดินสีแดงหินไปจนถึงเส้นทางเดินป่าในหุบเขาลึก ประสบการณ์ที่ยอดเยี่ยม

We loved this hike. We took the turn off to Subway Cave. It was amazing getting to the top where the subway was. It is not for the weak and hiking shoes are a must. It is too difficult to climb in tennis shoes. If you have a chance and at least 4 hours of time try looking for the Subway Cave on the Boynton Canyon Trail. It is well worth it!!

Subway cave is awesome

Hiked the 6 miles with my kids (7&9), the best part was the subway cave (tight squeeze up those rocks!) but fun. The views are amazing and the caves across the subway cave are cool too. Terrains is mostly flat and not too many views until you get to the end.

We preferred other hikes

While there were cool moments, like a cave, we realized that canyon hikes just aren’t for us. We hiked for 6+ miles and it was monotonous and flat. We saw lots of mountain bikers which led us to conclude it’s probably much more exciting for cyclists than hikers.

Long But worth it

Amazing hike and we ended up doing about 11 miles by the time we walked from the road to the Subway Cave and the end of the trail at the end of the canyon. The trail to the Subway is a gradual uphill climb with a few steeper climbs then a steep climb at the end to get to the Subway cave. If you are not careful, you will miss the turn for the "Unmarked and Unmaintained Trail to the Subway Cave" This part is narrower but very busy part of the trail. I would guess 90 percent only go this far. At the Subway, I would suggest the climb to the left as it is easier to get up to the ledge. It is higher up and is a ledge but I am normally scared of heights but still made it. We continued on to the end of the trail and you end up above the tree line at the end of the canyon about 2 miles past the turnout for the Subway Cave. As you hike through the trees and the rushing water and start to climb up and out of the canyon, the peace of the area sets in. The last bit is again a little steep and you have to some rock scrambling to get to the top. The view at the end is amazing and worth the long hike.

Le stationnement se trouve sur le chemin forestier 152B, près du chemin Boynton Pass. Petit, il est vite rempli, on peut alors stationner sur le bord du chemin Boynton Pass, mais pas le long du chemin forestier. Le sentier longe le Enchantment Resort et le Boynton Canyon. Très agréable mais la dernière partie pour se rendre à la caverne est très difficile car il demande d’escalader un gros rocher, c’est plutôt dangereux, beaucoup ne vont pas jusqu’au bout.

This was a great trail that was mostly easy (a few inclines and slippery spots but not much). We saw small children and older people so it really is an easy trail. We did this hike on a dry day. I think it would be much more difficult in the rain because I can see how those inclines would be much harder.
Fantastic views that varied along the trail. Lots of picture-worthy spots.
I am knocking off one star because the trail head markers aren't always clear. They could use more and improve the clarity of them.

Great Views

Views are spectacular. Trail is pretty tough on the body. A little disappointing that there is a resort and some large homes in the middle of the canyon at the beginning with some construction happening, so you can hear resort noise and construction noise which takes away from the ambiance. The “subway cave” is off of this trail, so lots of instagrammers looking to get the perfect shot on this trail. If you actually continue on the trail to the end, it is quite rigorous at the end with large rocks and a very steep hike to the top. Parking was a little bit if a challenge as we arrived by 8 am and the lot was already full.

A fun adventure!

Really enjoyed this hike with my son. He is 6 years old, and although he did have a few rides on my shoulders, the hike was doable, and he had a blast. We took a little stint off to visit a cave and some ruins. Thankfully we met a couple of other people who helped me get my son to the caves. Wouldn't have been able to take him without the extra hands. Was the best hike in Sedona so far. Highly recommend. the views are extraordinary!

Beautiful Sedona hike

This trail literally rocks. Red rocks of course. Gentle up and down with a detour to rock spires and possibility of doing a bit of a climb to a cave. Gorgeous views. Very peaceful. And for those so inclined, this is one of the energy vortex areas. Rock on!

It all about the SUBWAY - boynton trail it uneventful

Ok everyone wants that instagram shot on the subway opening. If you want no one in the picture, go early. We started our hike at 8am in the winter and only 1 or 2 others there. Good to have one as they can be your camera person after you frame it for them. Otherwise carry a tripod if you there on your own or it's just solo shot. Bit sketchy to go around bend toward ruins but nothing that difficult. Great views

hint just climb up from main climb but you will have to go in the middle part of the rock an climb up slick rock. It's next to impossible to go via slim crevice on left of the climb. If you really want to cheat you can go thru the bushes to the very left of the opening of the subway but i didn't think it was difficult going up or coming down the main entry point. It's funner also. It's slick rock so no biggy. Slide down on all 4s and butt coming down.

Yes the turn off is a bit of a guess. Crocodile trees are everywhere but you have to hike almost to the end before you turn right and cross the river bed and climb up. Look for arrows made of branches/rocks that others have left or just ask others

If you come later than 9-10 alot more people and difficult to find parking at TH. it's a far walk if you have to road park so do yourself a favor and wake up earlier

At the end of you hike take a turn off at Boynton Canyon Vista (Vortex) close to parking. Great place to sit and have lunch esp on on otherside of where everyone congregrates. You may see a flute player up there.

Total mileage was 14.7 km for us return (or about 10 miles. We did not go to the end of Boynton Canyon trail after the subways. Not much towards end part.

Good closeby hike after this is to got to Fay Canyon and find the Arch. Sort of like the Subways - its a bit tricky to find turn off to hike up the arch. Just visually look for it then rear right and cross the river bed similar to the subways.
