We went with Elena's hiking and Temezcal (find them on Google). WhatsApp - +502 5952 0320.
Also you could use @SantaCruzJoAtitlan (insta) - which is a cooperative of guides based in Santa Cruz, which Elena is part of.
Best way to see a mountain is with people who live on it!

We booked the tour via the language school in Santa Cruz, their office is 50 m on the left side when you arrive via boat.
Our guide Edgar picked us up at 5am (yes, we wanted to go that early), and we were off. He speaks English and Spanish and told us a lot about local culture and flowers we passed on the way up. It took us 2,5hours to go to the top. We saw an amazing sunrise halfway. Luckily you have nice views of the lake and volcanoes all the way to the top. The hike was steep but well worth it. You could see all 3 volcanoes without the clouds. We were back at 9:30am, just when it got hot.
I highly recommend this walk. It’s worth going early but you will need a head lamp. And take a guide. We were charged 35 us$ pp. It seems quite a lot for hike but otherwise you’ll not be able to find the way.

Wasn't sure how I was going to do with the last bit of the hike out to the lookout because I'm not a fan of heights but it was so worth the effort. Possibly the most outstanding view during our trip. We were less by our guide Domingo from Voltan Adventures. Highly recommended

Went to Pico De Cielo while on a yoga retreat in Guatemala. The hike was very manageable and nice that it was near a local community.
