A thoroughly restored working flour mill, selling their own produce. You could just take in the overall idea or spend two or more hours absorbing all the detail. Very suitable for children.

We were looking for an indoor activity on a rainy day. The mill was a fantastic option. It was so interesting. Spread over 3 floors, you can see and read the history of this mill in detail. It is free to visit, but donations are appreciated. You can buy flour or small gifts in the shop. This whole courtyard part of Lyme Regis has been developed beautifully. Highly recommended.

This is such an interesting mill where you can also buy hand milled flours, you can also join a tour to see the workings of the mill. There is also a fabulous garden as well,

With free entry, Town Mill is well worth a visit if you can manage the narrow stairs. Interesting little visit, especially seeing the water mill in action.

Really great visit, volunteers are passionate about this and you can see why, so much history. the whole milling process is explained and demonstrated. Free entry with donations requested and also flour and associated baking bits and pieces to buy.

This beautiful mill is still in operation, with informative and witty volunteers ready to talk all about the history and milling process. Be sure to pop in whenever you are visiting Lyme Regis.

Great visit, really interesting and a fab part of history. Passionate volunteers so eager to share the history and show you the workings of it alll and get you involved where possible. It is free entry with a requested donation or a purchase of their flour. So worth a visit

Wow, what a fantastically interesting place.
We've been to Lyme Regis many times and were aware of the mill, but didn't realise it was open to the public.
The guide Tim, brought the whole experience to life and explained everything clearly, demonstrated processes and answered questions.
This is a real working water mill, grinding corn for use by local bakers.
The situation is in a beautiful, buzzing little corner of Lyme where there are lots of other things to interest the visitor.
Considering the mill is run by volunteers and admission is free, I would urge any visitor to Lyme to visit this gem.

Really enthusiastic guides helped to bring this place to life. I particularly enjoyed the demonstration of "turning" the water wheel on and off! Free admission is always a bonus but we were happy to make a purchase in the shop.

Run by a charity and volunteer led. We went in on the free basis self guided tour but came across a tour. Didnt realise it was a paid for. (Around £10 per adult but free for small children). So joined, as you couldnt really get away from it as it was a small place. But on finding out it was paid I donated more than the value of the tickets as it was soo good. The volunteer was so knowledgable. And was handling all the equipment as part of her demonstration which was amazing to watch the water wheel being turned on and flour actually produced. And the equipment used to maintain the stones in the tubs etc…. They were very accommodating despite us not being clearly on the tour… and chatting to the ladies afterwards we bought some freshly milled flour and bread making kits. The shop had loads of items and appropriate products. Be wary that the opening times online arent always up to date. Online said 4.30 close but the sign on the door was 11am to 1.30pm. Volunteer availability seems to rule this. Well worth a visit. Not owned by commercial company. Only by locals who want to keep a local asset alive. (Instead of being turned in to another car park…. Which is all good having another car park for the tourists but if they have nothing to see why would they come… and this is very much worth seeing! Kids and adults alike)

They do not have wheelchairs. However, the ground floor is easily accessible and has a chair so that you can view the working mill and the flow of milled flour. The further two floors are accessible by stairs only; although the first floor (stone floor) could be reached by wheelchair through a fire escape and one step.

The Town Mill is open 11am - 4pm every day. The only proviso is that it's run by volunteers, so there may be the occasional shift that is not covered.
