Such a beautiful coastline but spoilt by the repulsive sulphur stench , how residents put up with it is beyond me . Sorry but won't be back , it's a health hazard !

Stopped for a look around Alnmouth and then went for a lovely bracing walk along the beach. We could have literally walked for miles

This is one of the many great Northumberland beaches. For a great one hour walk, head North along the beach to the end of the Village Golf Course, then follow the walkers' path up to the top of the headland and sit for a while on the bench near the holiday "pods" to admire the fantastic views. From there head back towards Alnmouth between the two golf courses (Alnmouth Village Golf Club on your left and Foxton Hall over the fence to your right), keeping a look out for stray golf balls! When you reach the old stone Battery, either go down left back towards the beach car park or straight on for Alnmouth village, past the beacon and the Friary.
The Aln estuary is also worth a look if you head South from the car park, but crossing should NEVER be attempted.

Lovely beach. Wonderful views up and down the coast.
Unfortunately, the village is not so good - difficult to find something to eat at 4 in the afternoon, accommodation very pricey for average quality, and many businesses closed.
Perhaps there are too many holiday cottages in Alnmouth; there were too many cars when we visited, blocking the narrow streets, and too many dogs too. Every other person seemed to be accompanied by a dog, we had to dodge the leads - some owners to not realise that their dog, or lead, can trip you up.

Super beach - I've been going to Alnmouth and the beach since I was a young bairn - Alnmouth beach is one of the gorgeous white sand beaches famous in Northumberland.
Great family beaches with brilliant views to Boulmer in the North and Warkworth and Amble in the South and the famous Alnmouth Dunes!

Unspoilt, generally empty, few facilities. Just miles of soft golden sand and clean water. Perfect for a walk.

Beautiful clean. Beach. Loved walking here most days we were in Newton. It was strange to have no seabirds on the beach a bit eerie. So sad that there so many have died. Hope they manage to reproduce and come back.

A beautiful beach with lots of great walks on the sand or up on the paths. Fabulous views. Paid car park. No toilets.

Beautiful clean beach. On a hot summers day this beach is perfect. Stunning views, ample parking, sleepy village.

Firstly, parking is £3.50 all day is great value, you can park so close to the beach you could throw your rucksack from the car and its in the sea.
The water was as clear as tap water, when we were there the water was as still as a pond, great for young kids and safe as houses, great place to learn to paddle board as well. Toilets not far away and you can walk into the village for a drink if you want, would return in a heart beat.

i cant believe no one is concerned about the beach car park being in such an atrocious state of repair. the 1.50 charge is reasonable but times that figure by amount of vehicles using the facility throughout the summer season, one would think a small amount of revenue collected would be put aside for some repair to the car park surface. I would imagine the local council (or whoever is responsible for the car park) accept no responsibility for any damage caused to tyres/wheels etc due to the deep and excesive number of potholes. Am i alone with these thoughts.

hi, how long did this walk take, we have visited this area now many times but never realised you could get this far round the coast walking along the beach ?

Our choice is a walk along the alnmouth beach south towards the estury then up through the town , back to the beach side car park and an ice cream from Gwens tiny van, certainly don't attempt to cross the fast flowing estury, this walk with our short leg dog takes about an hour

Yes there are toilets opposite the Golf course that are accessible.

I’ve never seen any & there are no signs to say you can’t. It’s quite a busy beech with many dogs so even if you can I would think twice about it

Sorry; been on holiday! Shouldn't be a problem but have respect! There is a built in BBQ area in a park off of Lovers walk- this is not far from the beach- less sand on the food and more controllable.
