A beautiful long beach with plenty of space for all kinds of activities. When the weather is nice it is one of the nicest places to be in the UK, for sunbathing, flying a kite, ball sports or having a paddle in the sea or one of the small 'pools' that form when the tide goes out, it has it all.

We stopped in a bed and breakfast that overlooked the beach we have 2 dogs that I was able to have walk and run here 2 times a day so for us was a godsend
The beach is vast and has dog restrictions on in the summer Very soft sand so can be difficult walking and has sand dunes

Visited on 3rd for my birthday from our stay in Dolgellau. Got lost so took longer than anticipated (sat nav & Google maps kaput). On arrival at 11.30 parked on pay n stay by promenade - till 4pm. Strolled around & visited some of our old haunts. As it started raining at 3pm returned to car-park - massive q for leaving - so decided to visit the Last Inn! Still big Q at 3.45. We were stuck in car park for 30mins. Am aware that events were planned for day/night in Barmouth but would have thought they would have put on police/traffic wardens to direct flow of traffic from car park sooner than they did. Once we got out of car park journey back to Cross Foxes was about 25mins - just time to shower & change for evening meal

Perfect beach for families, couples and dogs. Plenty of beach for everyone and plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the sunsets over the sea. The beach is mainly sand but there are some parts that’s rocky. The beach is a perfect setting for a picnic or a walk through the waves.

Visiting Barmouth again, took the kids to the beach to blow off some stream.
Fun time for the kids - well maintained beach.
Though watch out for the heavy earth movers, that were clearing the sand from the paved area to the other side of the dunes - minimal signs and no hard barriers - why they were working through the Easter School holidays with the beach full of kids is a major safety hazard! Essential work maybe, but surely do it when the kids are at school!

Lovely clean sands, very good place to take your dog and the kids. The beach is definitely the highlight of Barmouth, parts of the town suffer from to many rides, funfairs and amusement arcades. but the beach and especially the sand dunes are beautiful. I think that the town ought to rebrand itself in a more upmarket way. Good ample cark parking, but rather limited public transport.

Train ride to Barmouth from Criccieth. Train ride lovely views but Barmouth is a disappointment. Wouldn’t bother getting off train next time. Beach looked ok but overall the place looked tired and dirty

A lovely long beach, a mix of sraweed, shingle and sand. Great for an hours dog walk folowed bya coffee after wards at one of the many cafes in town.

This was a day trip out before my knee operation. Never been to Barmouth before, but lots of other surrounding towns. We were really pleasantly surprised how nice it was on a windy, chilly New Years day. After getting a free parking spot for the day by advice of a friendly local at 9am. We literally had the beach to ourselves, not a human or dog in sight. The walk down to the sea was long but worth it, the big waves were really crashing down, very windy, but I loved it, the sea air smell..fantastic.
We were let into The Tilman by the kind owner for breakfast (yummy) only normally open at 10.30 to residents, but she gave pity as nowhere else open.
We had the beautiful town virtually to ourselves taking in all the old town, the drunks jail, the Viaduct to Fairbourne (yay it was open) we climbed up some steep steps, between a couple of houses, with envious views of the estuary to a vantage point by Cae Fadog, a lone bench was waiting for us with our name on it, what a fab place for a picnic. The rest of our day was great too, even being attacked by a young cheeky seagull
Thoroughly lovely seaside town, will come again to stay.

stunning beach, luckily we went before the school holidays and had the beach to ourselves. I really like the fact that there are segregated doggie areas as the Mrs has really bad allergies.
we only went for the day, but will stay for a few nights when we re-visit.

When on the out of season is the parking free in barmouth

Out of season it is normally quite easy to park on the road for free. The promenade pay and display machines are normally covered over which implies the promenade is free. Gwynedd Council usually allow free parking in the Council owned car parks some time over Christmas. I'm sorry I can't give actual dates as they vary.
Are there plenty of disabled parking bays and are they free please...?

Not really , but if you go down to the end of the promenade where the little train turns around , if you go down the slipway there you can see a Little Rock pool to the right of the sea wall defence when the tide is out , also to the left of the harbour there’s some water traps when the tide goes out , hope this helps
