The most amazing trip ever thanks to the entire eco Africa team!
Already home for a couple of weeks and still cherish the great memories from our 8 day lemosho route to the kili top.
Reaching the top, which we did, is an amazing experience on itself. A once in a lifetime dream. However these guys from eco Africa that assisted us the entire trip made it even more incredible. Our professional guides gewa and John guided us every step with advice (from restaurant tips in moshi to geological kili facts and from clothing advice to drink - sippy sippy - reminders), medical check ups and lots of joy (incl lots of singing and dancing ;)) Thank you very much guys, we are family now!
The rest of the porter team with special thanks to mr waiter Emanuel, magician chef Vincent en porter john senior made it next level. We thought the trip would be though but we were treated as kings during the entire climb which made it very easy for us. The most amazing food (and lots of it!), the greatest care (eg; Emanuel made sure we always had food, drinks and something to refresh ourselves) and the most fantastic people made our kili climb beyond all expectations.
If you are looking for a professional team, the best food, high changes to safely reach the top and the most amazing individuals; stop looking and book with eco Africa. They are truly amazing!
Again thanks guys, Gewa and John in particular! We will never forget this.

First and foremost ,I want to thank Fredrick ,we met on Linked-In a few years ago ,he helped me to make this dream a reality. This company Eco-Africa, scratch that this FAMILY. From the first meeting at the airport we ( our group of five, family and friends)were treaded like it was a family vacation ,the service and dedication of the guides and porters was off the chart . I can not say much about the endless numbers of other companies, But on day one at the gates we served lunch on plates ( a hot wonderful lunch)with silverware this was to be the beginning of 3 hot meals every day tea in the morning and hot water for washing. The little things that really shine such as a private bathroom tent a mess tent and just having your own tent all setup and ready to go when you slogged into camp after a good long day of great hiking ( then of course the hot towel).All I can you is if you want to go to Africa and climb The big Mountain Look no farther than Eco-Africa they are Family, they are Flexible defiantly
do the 8 day route it gives you plenty of time to get your body ready, and IMHO more time to get to know the fine men and women (ladies you rocked) who make this whole thing possible. Tip them well as I am more than sure that they have earned it , laugh and sing with them. I miss them already lastly a note for gear bring anything that YOU might think is aging and donate it to the porters and guides they will be over the moon with anything you can give , We donated 4 pair of boots that had some good life left and let me say I will always treasure the looks in the eyes of the winners of those boots . ECO- AFARICA AAAA WAAAAAAAAA forever

We (5 friends and family) climbed Kilimanjaro and went on Serengeti safari with Eco-Africa. The service and experience exceeded expectations and has shifted my opinions of guides forever. Not all guides are created equal. Use a KPAP only guide to climb. KPAP ensures the porters are well paid and have enough food and accomodations on the mtn. Eco-Africa is head and shoulders above the other guides. We got 3 hot meals a day, AM coffee and hot water for washing and a hot towel when we come into camp. From the moment we landed at the airport to when they dropped us off at the airport at 0500 they were with us every step of the way. Top 5 musts: 1. Call Eco-Africa, 2. Donate all you climbing gear to the guides, 3. Tip big, 4. Learn some Swahili before you go, 5. Hakuna Matada

If anyone is considering any travel in Tanzania, from climbing Kilimanjaro to safari excursions, reach out to Eco Africa for information and questions.
Frederick, the owner and founder of the company is extremely personable and will answer every question promptly before your arrival so that you are prepared.
Upon arrival, there were NO concerns about any hiccups in our travel itinerary from locations of pick-up and timing. We were never delayed and the entirely of the trip was extremely smooth.
We climbed Kilimanjaro with Eco Africa and we couldn’t have asked for a more streamlined trip with attention to every detail/need for each one of us in the group.
Our primary guides Rafael Sama and Faustine Temba (request them if possible) were the essence of true leadership in accomplishing this monumental task that brought us to the beautiful land of Tanzania.
They were full of positive energy to uplift every spirit in the moments of minor discomforts to moments of extreme lethargy.
The team that was provided for our group was so loving, kind, thoughtful and emanated every realm of positive energy.
The food and the flavors of Africa provided to us on the mountain by “professional chef” Elia Kaisani nourished us with the optimal strength we needed to reach our goal.
I rarely write reviews but was compelled to write this one because of if I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t do it any other way!
The organized safari adventure to the Serengeti, Ngorangoro Crater, Tarangire National Park was equally well organized with wonderful accommodations. Our expert guide Joseph provided us with a wealth of information, keeping an eye out on the grasslands for optimal sightings and keeping us safe.
Eco-Africa operates with a high level of ethics, ensuring respect for women and staff, ensuring fair wages and payments for porters and respect for the environment.
Again, if you are considering travels to Tanzania for Safari adventures or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, I would not use any other tour company than Eco Africa.

I couldn’t have had a better experience with Eco Africa. I initially chose the company because it was Tanzanian owned, was part of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP), and was sustainability driven. From the early emails, Fredrick was friendly, informative, and responsive. Once I began the trek the team was truly incredible. Every meal was outstanding and truly a feat given the amount of cooking that’s taking place at altitude on camp stoves - the chef, Elias, even baked me a Birthday cake at altitude at base camp! Our guides, Rafael and Temba, were incredible - patient, encouraging, and welcoming. And the porters were truly a breath of fresh air- so lovely, fun, and enigmatic. The team not only pampered us and anticipated our every need but also shared their culture and lives with us for a week on the mountain and for that I’m very grateful. With the team’s help my group successfully summitted and Frederick even helped arrange for a post trek massage at my hotel the day after the trek. You can’t go wrong with this company.

If I could give Eco-Africa Climbing all the stars in the world, believe me I would! From the moment they met us at the airport to reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro, they looked after us exceptionally. One of the first things our guide Onesmo said to us was “we are a family”, which you might not experience if you go with one of the bigger tour operators. The entire crew (guides, chef, waiter, porters) made us feel so welcome and we wouldn’t have made it to the top without their kindness, support and knowledge. The planning process was seamless thanks to Frederick’s quick communication, and the hike itself was smooth sailing. Luckily we did not have altitude sickness but Onesmo and Gewa consistently checked on us and encouraged us to go at a pace we were comfortable with. The dining, sleeping and toilet facilities were all very clean and comfortable and the food was AMAZING! We were both vegetarian but occasionally eat fish and they were able to accommodate to this. It was the most special, unforgettable and beautiful adventure we have ever been on, all thanks to Eco. Deepest gratitude forever.

We chose Eco Africa to climb Kilimanjaro and were incredibly pleased with the experience!
The company is a family business and you are absolutely welcomed into the family from the start.
We took the Northern Circuit to climb Kilimanjaro, which we would highly recommend. It was quieter than other routes and gave you panoramic views of the mountain.
Our guides Gewa and Onesmo were fantastic. They were knowledgable, supportive and made the climb very enjoyable!
The food was delicious and the Eco Africa team went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable.
Eco Africa has a particular focus on ethical tourism, treating their staff well and making efforts to be sustainable. This really sets them apart from other tour companies.
We cannot recommend Eco Africa enough for a Kilimanjaro climb!

I had the privilege of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro on the morning of January 17th, 2025, with the incredible team from Eco-Africa Climbing & Safari.
I chose the 8-day Lemosho route, from January 11th to January 18th, 2025.
From my very first communication with Mr. Fredrick Wilbert, Eco-Africa’s Travel Expert, the entire planning process was seamless and enjoyable. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly, and the team showed great flexibility throughout.
Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Fredrick personally greeted me and drove me to Panama Guest House in Moshi, which serves as the pre- and post-trip accommodation. The guest house was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and it provided a comfortable place for a brief stay.
The night before the trek, I met our Head Guide, Onesmo, who gave a thorough and informative briefing on the trip. He also conducted a detailed gear check to ensure everything was in order for the eight days ahead.
As I met the rest of the crew, it quickly became clear that Eco-Africa is not just another tour operator, but a well-coordinated team that treats its clients like family. The entire crew was friendly, helpful, and deeply committed to ensuring our comfort and success throughout the journey.
Hiking never felt like a burden, thanks to engaging and informative conversations with our guide. He shared insights about the different climate zones we passed through and offered tips on hiking techniques, pacing, and strategies to make the summit successful and as enjoyable as possible.
The campsites were always set up when we arrived, greeted with big smiles and high-fives, along with a refreshing juice to celebrate completing the day's hike.
The sleeping and dining tents were perfectly adequate, providing shelter and comfort amidst the varying weather conditions.
The meals were expertly prepared, offering a variety of options throughout the trip, ensuring that I was never hungry! The cooks truly worked magic with their meals.
Eco-Africa prides itself on being a "no-trace" company, and they absolutely lived up to this. Trash was managed responsibly, and team members were frequently seen walking through the camps, picking up any litter to ensure that we left no trace behind. Fantastic job on this front!
This trip was an overwhelming success, thanks to the exceptional efforts of the entire team.
A special thank you to Onesmo (Head Guide), Matthew and Faustine (the cooks), Jonathan (the attentive waiter), Ali (who prepared my sleeping arrangements and supported me during the summit push), and Thomas, Richard, Hussain, Victor, and Mjuni (the hardworking porters) who always kept things light with jokes and smiles.

My husband and I climbed Kilimanjaro with Eco Africa Climbing in October 2024. Making it to the summit was an experience of a lifetime made possible by Fredrick, our guides, Gewa and John, our cook, Matthew, and our amazing team of Kilifighters (porters). We chose the 8-day Lemosho route, which took us through beautiful jungle scenery to the moorland and eventually to the alpine desert. We were so well cared for on the trail and in camp. Matthew made phenomenal vegan meals to accommodate my dietary preferences, every meal was a feast. I suffered some altitude sickness, but Gewa, John, and the entire team looked after me and helped me achieve my dream. I quite literally would not have been able to do it without them. Their positivity and camaraderie was contagious, and they believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. We followed our climb with a 3-day safari to Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater, which was the perfect amount of time and an equally amazing experience. Our guide, Joseph, was friendly and knowledgeable, and he was able to position us to see animals we never expected, including the elusive leopard and rhino. Frederick handled everything from start to finish, including accommodations in Moshi and on safari. Our trip to Tanzania was an amazing experience, and I recommend Eco-Africa Climbing to anyone considering climbing Kilimanjaro!

If you're looking at this review then there is a fair chance you're considering a climb or safari with Eco. In short, if we could have given 7 starts we would have.
Who are we?
We were team AUG (Instagram page). Prior to booking this trip we had never heard of Eco-Africa.
Our criteria for booking a company to climb Kili, was for the company to be a KPAP member and a local business from Tanzania. The rest of it was dates that lined up and professional communication.
We arranged everything with Frederick online, paid the deposit, flew into Tanzania and from that moment on we were treated like rock stars. The whole team, 2 guides, chef and 10 porters were enthusiastic, fun, approachable, fit and keen to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The porters are not just porters, they all have their own specific jobs including Matthew our "waiter' who woke us each morning with hot coffee and was a smiling face at every meal.
Each day we were given a briefing and had a health check completed. Both morning and again every evening.
Prior to leaving camp each morning we knew what to expect and how the day would go.
The food was next level, silver plater service, incredibly tasty and plenty of it.
On summit day, one of us suffered some nausa from the altitude and upon reaching the summit, chose to descend quickly. Eco-Africa sends 2 guides plus an additional experienced porter to the summit so there is flexibility for 2 to assist with the descent, leaving 1 to come down slowly with the remaining client. We saw a few companies with 1 guide and 1 climber struggling to descend quickly as there was no additional support.
Following the end of the climb were taken back to town to shower before being collected for a ceremony back at the office. There was a table on he lawn where we celebrated, enjoyed a last meal together and presented the tips to each member of the team. Some companies do a quick hand over of tips in the carpark with no chance to say thanks and finish on a good note.
A long review but to finish up, Thankyou Eco-Africa and for anyone looking for a great local company, these guys hit the mark on every occasion.
