Don’t go- let it go back to nature if you are too dumb to appreciate it.

Please don’t go here. I personally LOVE everything about Albert Pike and surrounding areas- and go there multiple times a month- and camp year round. But I’m over the tourists and/or locals, who don’t treat the place with the respect it’s beauty and serenity deserves. For reasons from its past, it is not as well maintained as it could be, and the roads are far worse than they should be- but if people could just pick up and carry out their trash, or learn to go potty in the woods like normal humans—- and the ATV’s weren’t constantly buzzing up and down the roads- maybe what little maintenance the State does, would last a little longer for those of us who actually go there to relax, alone, in peace- and not nearly have their car ran off a bluff by a trail of 15 side by sides, or hoping to not get a flat because some drunk show-out wants to let everyone know what his monster wheels can do by doing donuts in the middle of the newly grated gravel road— or to have my campsite looted by people that aren’t aware that I have a gun for personal protection and my stuff can be replaced, they can’t be.... don’t go. Or at least- stay away from me please.

Not Well Maintained, A By Gone Era

Years after a tragic flood, the Albert Pike Recreational Area looks in shambles. Bathrooms are boarded up and camping and day use areas are barricaded. Everything is overgrown and has the appearance of an era gone by. It is a crying shame that a once in 100 year flash flood has ruined the fun and outdoor experience for generations to come.

Little Missouri Falls

We came for the Little Missouri Falls, and we were not disappointed. We were however somewhat surprised at the roads - it's just gravel and quite narrow when meeting oncoming cars. It took us 45 minutes to go the last 7 miles to the falls, which we were unprepared for. Just something to note!

Little Missouri Falls is breath-taking and should not be missed! Bring your swimsuit.

Fun for the whole family. If you go the first weekend in June there's free fishing . You can literally walk up and down the creek and check and catch smallmouth bass.

Stunning Mountain Swimming and Beauty

A place that is so good for the soul it seems almost surreal. You can picnic with the soothing sound of water cascading your senses. This is the best swimming hole for the children and adults that I have experienced in the great state of Arkansas. I hope they open this area for camping once again, but only if proper warning systems are in place.
Sadly, they close the gates and stop easy access to the picnic areas during the fall which is perhaps the most beautiful time of year in Arkansas. I believe the powers to be need to give proper funding to do whatever it takes to make this place a camping area again.
This is a place worth experiencing year after year. Once again, words cannot describe how beautiful this place is if you love swimming holes, hiking, and picnics. Great bathrooms too.

Be forewarned, if you have never swam in a mountain stream, you WILL be shocked how cold the water is. If you can handle it, you will not be disappointing. The camping areas are clean and well maintained. We came for a day trip (a child's birthday party) and spent the entire day playing in the river like otters. We walked miles up and down the river ,(in the river, it's only a few feet deep) marveling at the natural beauty. If you like playing in the woods and river, Arkansas cannot be beat for natural beauty and mountain play land.

Beautiful area to spend the day. Public restroom available and picnic spots are mostly shaded. The river is great for cooling off and there are hiking trails as well.

DISAPPOINTMENT

The scenery was very pretty. Clear streams and beautiful rocks but as a National Forest this was a huge disappointment. The whole area was in disrepair and looked as if the forest service had abandoned it. The restrooms except for one area were all closed and looked like they had been for years. Some of the bridges and stairs at one of the areas had rotted boards. It seems like an accident looking for a place to happen.
