Dhak Bahiri Caves !
ก.พ. ค.ศ. 2020 • เพื่อนๆ
View of beautiful scenery from the caves. Small rock climbing patch during the trek.Very short one day trek. Needs courage to climb up the path to caves. After completing the trek to caves and returning to ridge at forest, do not miss to see Dhak fort. It’s huge platoon. At the end of platoon, there are 4 to 5 water tanks built at ancient times.
Advice : Please bring safety equipments and energy drink or glucose water with you especially for this hiking.

To Start with this is not a normal hike to some fort or a mountain top unlike majority of the one day treks that are there nearby pune sub regions . This trek does require physical stamina to at least pull your body up with the help of ropes and also to endure the sight of steep vertical climbs and valleys !!! to trek this beauty , you should have a person along who has been here before as many fail to recognize the real route to get to the caves . lot of monkeys enroute specially in a region where you need to trek down over huge boulders .. the monkeys threaten you in anticipation of getting food out of your bags ..but please DO NOT look or revolt .. they will pass by .. DO NOT attack them as they will get a reason to attack and pounce on you with their entire troop .. well once this hurdle is crossed .. you need to walk on the mountain side by leaning your body against the mountain wall as the gradient is quiet steep and pretty vertical .. post crossing this , you will arrive at a steep vertical climb to the caves - which can be climbed with the help of broken bamboo steps and your rappelling skills .. trek is not meant for the faint hearted as half of our troop refused to climb due to its challenging terrain .. steel ropes provided at the sides of the trail are of some help but are in worn out state .. be careful once you are using these for your support .. but yes ,.. once trekked , the caves are pretty small with a temple within to accommodate approx. 10 to 12 people .. you need to start the descend soon as getting down from the caves is equally challenging !! unique experience though to trek this beauty !! all the best .. look out for some natural water ponds .. ideally trek this beauty a month after the monsoon ends as the trail can be quiet slippery and by this time there will be a few natural water ponds ready to probably dive in !!

Not recommended for all

The terrains are really steep and it is strictly not advisable to go on top here, even professionals avoid going on this trek, there are lots of other trekking options near kamshet and lonavala

Dhak bahiri

we recently went to Dhak bahiri (cave and fort ) for trekking . this is area is good place for people who climb mountains with advanced climbing equipment. it is a very risky area for a regular trekker. For a effort viewpoint the trek is very easy compared to rajghad or torna. But the route to cave and top of fort is very risky and i would suggest to avoid it. you are required to walk on a steep rock face and one wrong foot and person will go down into the valley . The fort is probbaly 40 min climb from the cave and there is nothing on the fort to see. it does not even have fort walls. this fort was a watch tower and not a real fort.

if you do visit watch out for the person who works in the temple in caves. he will try to act as guide and fleece money from you. he will also try to get you to the cave temple even though it is very risky and then ask for donation to temple from each person who makes it there. Also the jambhuli village where you park your vehicle will try to collect money from you as part of donation. Avoid that or pay as little as possible.

my recommnedation is that this place is best avoided by regular trekkers and leave it to people who have experience in rock climbing. The view is scenic once you reach the fort but proceed with caution
