Although there is not much to see (the school house is actually a private residence) it is fascinating to see it there, next to the church, just like in the iconic movie (only that the movie cheated with the location - schoolhouse and church are not in Bodega Bay and visible from the water, but in the nearby town of Bodega, a few miles away). It felt like time travel back to a simpler time - and yes, there were some seagulls too.

It was fun to see the schoolhouse and church from The Birds. A must for any film fan! (You can also eat at the Tides Wharf Restaurant, where the restaurant scene was filmed). And Bodega/Bodega Bay are lovely places in general.

This is the old, eerie schoolhouse from The Birds movie. I would recommend watching the movie before visiting Bodega Bay so that you can relate to the various movie locations.

Cool photo op -- the Potter Schoolhouse is privately owned so one can only see it from the road -- nonetheless, we're glad we stopped.

If you are leaving Bodega Bay to head east (as in the Wine Country) you will likely take Bodega Highway through the little town of Bodega, which is part of the area Hitchcock used to knit together his movie town of Bodega Bay for "The Birds". We could see the school house building immediately to our right, up on the hill as we entered this tiny town. The church you see near it is also seen in the movie. We did not approach the buildings, as they are private property and we did not want to bother anyone, but we did get a good look at them from the street below. The Country Store is full of Birds memorabilia and souvenirs. Worth a stop if you have the time.

It's cool to see this house if you watched The Birds. You cannot go inside. The church from the movie is right next to it so you can see both at the same time.

If you’re a Hitchcock fan, you’ll love visiting this place. We went to San Francisco in the early 90’s and took a rented car straight north through Marin County and just kept going. We stopped for BBQ oysters just outside of Bodega and then found the schoolhouse. We had no navigation or GPS, just a big map from the gas station.

This is an important site in the movie "The Byrds". A must see for all fans. Although it is a private residence and you can't go in, just seeing a part of movie history is worth the drive. It is Not in Bodega Bay like most of the other scenes, but about 11 miles out of the town. Beautiful drive and you can't miss it.

On previous visits we were able to take pictures on property also had a small gift store inside - has ownership changed???

I don't know if ownership has changed but what I read was it is a private residence so it is not open to the public.
