If you haven’t experienced a mass exodus of bats before then it’s with seeing. Off the beaten path with no signage, follow Google maps and wait opposite the hill with the farm land opposite between 5:30-6pm and out they come !

I think reviews here are about two separate places. I visited the one near Wat Tham sila Thong. Go past the temple to a resort with a large field adjacent. Get there early to see dozens of birds of prey gathering to hunt. Buzzards,sparrowhawks and peregrines (we were told. )The spectacular sight of around 2 million wrinkle lipped bats emerging in streams of swirling patterns and snaking across the sky towards their feeding grounds lasted about an hour as the sky slowly turned red to darkness. The sound of bat wings filled the air.Not many wildlife sights are guaranteed but this one is. Highlight of my time in Khao Yai. Don't miss this.
I haven't been to the one at Khao Luk but I imagine it's a similar experience. .

Not sure we ended at the right spot since there were only 2 groups of tourists gathered at the end of unpaved mud road. That was where our Thai driver took us to after we showed him what we wanted to see at 5.3pm. From far the bats seem to fly in smaller groups, batch after batch. Probably that was why we didn’t see what other had shared but instead had to look very hard to realise that they were flying out from the caves.

We sought out this location around dusk to see the bats. There are two locations shown on google maps. We stopped on the road near to the Che Elpend, Khao Yai. After waiting for a while - nothing happened so we drove towards the DNA Resort, and at dusk, streams of bats flew over the car. Is it worth making a special trip for - I guess if you are into bats, then, yes. My children aged 13 and 15 both found it interesting. But we did only spend about 15 minutes looking for the bat cave on the mountain...

Tip: arrive earlier in December as sun sets earlier during year end. We arrived 5.45pm thinking the bat would not start streaming till 6.30pm but it started about 6.15pm.
All the reviews here are accurate so no point repeating, however has to say that even local drivers are not too familiar. My driver was from Bangkok and he has to call back his colleagues for direction.
Feeling annoyed I typed "Batcave road" and the same Batcave viewing road came up and we were assured we were at right place. So google map works here, of course u must have data and GPS turned on.
Must see because it's a natural phenomena and even zoos unlikely can create such feat!! Can they? Maybe.

When we arrived at 5.40pm, the bats were already moving out. What a spectacular view! This is my only enjoyment so far in Khao Yai. Should go!!

We arrived an hour too early but it was worth the wait!
It was quite amazing to watch millions (not kidding!) of bats streaming out of the bat cave to hunt for food.
As the place is not easy to find (& get to), there were very few tourists, so we didn't have to jostle with the usual tourist crowd for best viewing spots!
Just remember that the bats decide on the timing (between 5:15 to 6:30 pm, usually) & in which direction they stream out of the cave, haha. Even the guide couldn't tell us when the bats will be streaming out & which is the best spot to view the phenomenon.

Place is a bit out of the way, and may be a bit confusing to find as well. But it's worth to make the effort to see all these millions of bats stream out from the cave to hunt for food. What's more, this happens every evening. Do try to come before 6pm, before the sun starts to set. Plan to arrive by 530pm to be on a safe side. This is definitely a sight to behold, and worth to see at least once in your lifetime.

Стартовали группой из трех семей из отеля Duangjitt Resort в шесть утра, дорога заняла 2 часа с одной остановкой, очень торопились, но приехали самыми первыми. Покатались на плотах среди джунглей, потом было представление со слоненком и водные процедуры с ним же - это садишься на спину к слону и он начинает из хобота тебя поливать водой, детей мы не рискнули так развлекать)))
Затем нас повезли кататься на слонах, вот это, конечно, гвоздь программы! Очень впечатляет, дети в восторге! Но без взрослых детей лучше не отпускать, там есть очень крутые спуски и подъемы, можно вывалиться, потому нужно и самому держаться и ребенка не выронить. На речке фотосессия со слонами, погонщики-тайцы делают фото на наши камеры и все время клянчат "на сяй". У нас семья большая, мы на двух слонах катались, "на сяй" тоже за двоих дали, но и фотки супер!
Далее обед и в это время начали подъезжать автобусы, просто один за другим. Короче, не зря торопились, иначе бы стояли в очереди, слонов там не очень много и галопом они не скачут.
После слонов поехали кормить диких обезьян и посещать храм лежачего Будды. Все понравилось!
Отдельное спасибо нашему гиду Татьяне, очень доходчиво все объясняет, сразу предупреждает о возможных опасностях при контакте с дикими животными, потому советую слушать внимательно, особенно, если вы путешествуете с маленькими детьми.

Visited this location early Jan 2019. Around 6pm, the bats will start to leave their cave.
it's quite a sight if you have never seen this before. From a distance, the bats looks rather small.
Location is the near the "Wat Tham Sila Thong".
Looks like the authorities have started to pave the roads for tourist purpose. Also noticed some new building at this area. Soon, i believed they will start to collect fees for entry.
