My husband and I went on a 1/2 day morning trip down the Merced river. We felt very prepared by the Zephyr guides (and both us have no prior rafting experience) and had SUCH a fun time! We would absolutely book with Zephyr again. The guides were so nice and helpful, and it felt like safety was a big priority. These guides know the area and know what they are doing. I’d you’re visiting Yosemite and considering white water rafting, just do it! And photos were taken during the trip and available immediately after. Overall great experience.

huge rapids! great guides! wonderful pictures providedby zephyr! provided wetsuits, wool layer, and jackets. Swim test before we left because these rapids were big!

This rafting adventure was amazing. We decided to go on this rafting trip on our exploration of Yosemite valley. It did not disappoint. The water in the rivers are the highest they have been in in a very long time, and it made the trip down the river very exciting. The guides and group leaders are awesome. You can tell they love what they do and really enjoy sharing it. Our guide Sierra was amazing and so much fun. We had a family join the 2 of us and it made for an amazing ride. Zephyr was professional and very safety conscious while still having a good time. We highly recommend using them if you are looking for a very fun and safe way to experience the natural beauty of the valley and rivers. Mahalo Sierra and Zephyr

It was my second rafting (the first one was the American River) and I really enjoyed it. I like how organized everything was, with no unnecessary delays, a nice security briefing, lunch, photos and etc.
I would recommend a full-day trip if possible, but 1/2 day is a good option too.

Took my management team for some team building. Some of our team members were a little nervous because the water levels were so high, but they did an excellent job with all the safety precautions. We had so much fun!

We rafted down the Merced river in May 2023. we booked the full day trip, but Zephyr canceled the full day due to the water being too high and it being too dangerous in the lower half. We we’re bummed but understood. Safety first!
They make you do a swim test prior to going out. It is simple if you’ve ever swam before. There was a woman on one of the other boats who obviously couldn’t swim (during the swim test her feet were in front of her and her arms were just slapping the water). At this point, we’d already spent over an hour getting geared up, listening to safety instructions, and taking swim tests. No matter…they pulled her and refunded her money. Good thing too…the raft she was on flipped during the first rapid sending everyone swimming. We picked everyone up and regrouped, but t could’ve been ugly if Zephyr hadn‘t been diligent about their swim test. Safety first!
The water was AMAZING! True class 4 rapids…some swells were at least 8 feet tall. But our guide, Maggie, was brilliant. Shes the perfect mix of drill sergeant and sweetheart. In addition, there were 3 safety kayaks riding down the river with us to help out if anyone went overboard. Maggie told us the owner of Zephyr pays for at least 2 for every trip. Safety first!
I don’t know if we will ever get the same water conditions on the Merced River that we’ve had this year, but regardless, the next time we decide to raft the Merced, it will definitely be with Zephyr!

We’ve rafted a few times and this was the most exciting trip we’ve done! The water was wild in spots, but so fun! We felt very confident in our guide (Hennessy…not sure of spelling). He did a fantastic job keeping it both exciting and safe. Also, having the kayakers lead and be there to help if rafters fell out gave us more peace of mind. We’d definitely raft with them again! Highly recommend!!

I had a great experience, our guide really took his time to make sure to go over all the safety protocols. Our lunch was excellent too! I would highly recommend Zephyr to everyone

My friends and I have done 2 half-day trips with Zephyr and both trips did not disappoint. Scenery is beautiful on the Merced River. Raft guides Nate and Maggie gave us an experience we’ll never forget and we’re already planning to be back next year. I highly recommend you book with Zephyr for an experience of a lifetime.

The whole day was well organised and great equipment supplied for the activity! We had Nate for the day who was an awesome guy and made the day so much for more fun and wild. Couldn't recommend more highly!

What holds you in your seat, gravity? My wife and I are 65 in average shape,; can we do the Merced?

What clothes should we wear for an end of April rafting trip? I know they provide wet suits but do we need to bring anything else to wear other than a bathing suit under the wet suit?

We wore swim shorts and put the wetsuit and layers they gave us over our wetsuit. Was a luttle bit chilly at first but soon warmed up. They have the option to buy wool socks if you need to keep your feet warm. Do not wear anything cotton as this material will keep you cold.

Hi, which river would you recommend as best out of the Merced and Tuolumne for a one day trip? We are a couple who have been white water rafting a few times before (but only on organised trips like this, so by are no means experts!) so looking for reasonable rapids. Getting to either river is not a problem so not dictated to by location. Time of year will probably be the last weekend of April.

Hello...Both rivers will be running well with plenty of water in late April. Prices cheaper on Merced as we can run trips every day and have large allocations per trip, so amortization of costs over more people. Tuolumne is more remote, with excellent class 3-4 plus rapids. Merced closer to Yosemite, with 16 miles of class 3-4 whitewater. I would recommend either depending on your pricing comfort. Both trips include lunch on the river. O ne advantage of Merced is much less bus riding time for shuttles.Hope this helps, and feel free to contact us directly if you have additional questions.
