I scheduled a massage with Cherlena who was not only very personable, but also fantastic. You can tell that she enjoys the work that she does.
I walked in with terrible pain in my neck and low back. I had a 30 minute sport massage. Though she recommended that I needed more since the tension in my shoulders was severe, I walked out able to turn my head better than I had all week. After an hour I was able to think clearly and the headache was pretty much gone.
She went above and beyond, showing me neck stretches that I can do at home and recommending other methods I can do at home to minimize my pain.

I’m a mother of two children under the age of two who was looking for a much needed day of relaxation and tranquility. After having time to reflect on the severity of what occurred, unfortunately, my experience at this establishment turned out to be an overall nightmare and far from relaxing.
The nightmare started with a shoddy eyebrow waxing from the inept stylist, Renee, which resulted in an abrasion and burn from an unknown substance not intended to be applied to the face. Renee did admit in hindsight that the substance she applied to my face, (which was supposed to be the after-wax cooling gel) did appear “more runny than usual”. This burn/abrasion is still healing 4 weeks later and I can only hope the scar heals fully within a few months. I was concerned enough to see my physician who prescribed an anti-biotic ointment to assist with the healing process.
Not only did I have my skin burned, I had to endure insensitive, inappropriate and unprofessional banter regarding the topic of cutting AKA self-harm between Renee and another employee. I was shocked and appalled at the absent mindedness and incompetency between these two employees, especially in front of two clientele.
Before deciding to write this review, I have attempted to call 3 times to speak with a higher-up to discuss my concerns. I’ve been told each time my message will be forwarded to Sue, who from my understanding, is the owner. Almost a month later and I still have not heard back from Sue, which leads me to believe she is non-too concerned about running a quality business or upholding a high standard for her spa. Although unfortunate and disappointing, not surprising, seeing as though there’s not much competition in Humboldt.
To whomever is reading this: if you decide to spend your money at this spa, I truly hope you have an infinitely better experience than I did, but please be weary and cautious. This place does very little to attempt to uphold any degree of excellence and it gravely shows by their lack of unprofessionalism.

I tried this spa on two occasions. On both occasions massage was short like 10 to 15 minutes because they failed to provide proper time between clients. I had two manicures but I was overcharged on the second. My $42 manicure it was $15 more the second time. They tried to justify it by saying they had to take my nail polish off. When I told him they have to take nail polish off each time you have a manicure they told me they had made a mistake and will get back to me but never did. I’m just not going to go back and I was suggest people on this site go elsewhere

I was traveling on business and the hotel happened to have complementary bikes for their guests. In my trek across the city, I came across The Spa at Personal Choice. They valeted my bike (smile) and handled me well on my walk-in status. However, I do recommend scheduling an appointment. Chelsea and Kat were very professional and hospitable at the front desk, and the massage therapist Rod did a good job as well. If you’re in the Eureka area give this place a try!

Wife's review who, has lived in Malibu and Marin, and who has been there many times: accommodating, very knowledgable, and they "make you feel good". She would recommend The Spa at Personal Choice very highly.

We booked for massage, and it was expensive and unmemorable.
While waiting in their behind the doors waiting room we were "shushed" putting a dreary, snotty feel to the whole experience. Would not go again, as I believe spas should elevate the way you feel not reprimand you for your joy. Ugh!

I always enjoy going to the Spa at Personal Choice. I have manicures, pedicures, and massages. Last time I had a pedicure. So relaxing. The staff are very pleasant - have never had a poor experience there.

Went here right before my wedding, loved it! Very professional service. Maybe a little pricey but... Most spas are so... Can't wait to go back!

My Mom and I had a pedicure. The atmosphere is nice but we were told to be quiet because we were talking loud and disturbing the other clients. We were the only two getting pedicures and the massages are in another area. We were also greeted by someone with a cold. She had her nasty tissue in her hand and offered us something to drink. I would rather spend my money else where. The pedicure was just so-so and my polished chipped two days later.
