Civil war reenactment over Labor Day weekend in Central Park is fantastic and brings history alive. Tents are clustered together or the rebels and the union soldiers and all of the different services they required. Women with huge hoop skirts seem to float over the ground, and all sort of soldiers and scouts wander around. There is a band that plays Dixie and other songs of the era. President Lincoln was there both days and gave his famous Gettysburg address as well as answering any questions the visitors had. Ulysses S grant also was in attendance. There were four battles with cannons and rifles and it was clear that war is hell. Around the periphery are vendors with clothing and trinkets of the 1860s and food. The event is free.

If you walk to the amphitheater area, you will be able to see the Monarch Butterflies winterizing in clusters in the trees. The butterflies migration begins in November and will last thru February. I was lucky to see about 200 Monarch butterflies in clusters in the trees, right above the walkway, they look like dry leaves!

A nice park but not a great city park, surrounded by housing developments, feels like a neighborhood park, and no too large.

I will miss this place. Had the pleasure of living beside it for 36 years. Serene, quiet, safe and friendly. The nature center, senior center, library, equestrian center and oh, my, Kathy May's restaurant!

Huntington Central Park is the most comprehensive park in Los Angeles. It has a library, gardens, two lakes, a sports complex, equestrian center, Frisbee golf, a nature center and miles of trails through Raptor habitats.

Lovely little park with a huge library with free access to internet and classes. The civil war reenactment is a must see every September!

What a great park I never knew about it. After having a delicious breakfast at Park Bench Cafe we walked around the park for a few minutes. I was shocked at seeing so many friendly birds everywhere. This is bird watchers central and should not be missed if you are in the area.

There is no reason for anyone to visit this park. It has been commandeered by "Homeless" transients. It is not safe to be in the park considering the number of drugs and crime that are in the park. The city of Huntington Beach needs to step up to the problem and clean it up.

We were there for the Civil War Reenactment behind the Library. The park is huge and very beautiful!

This is a surprisingly large park. We have always enjoyed walking through it. It is well-maintained and has lots of different paths and never seems crowded. It is always a must on visiting the area. The library is also excellent -- particularly the children's section.
