This is an outstanding free attraction. but be sure to donate a few bucks. It is a labor of love for people working and supporting this place. Very interesting items and pictures that tell you about the town and its lumber roots. Items laid out so you get close to them. People working there are very knowledgeable.

We went to McCloud to see the waterfalls; lower, middle and upper falls. We then went to Berney Falls and was blown away! McCloud is very small but you do feel you are in a town in the past. The people there, particularly at the McCloud River Inn, were so open and friendly. The views of this Mt. Shasta area are so outstanding!

I always find McCloud interesting because the whole town is a step back in time. The old mill is absolutely huge, the homes have the uniformity of a company town, the old hotel hasn't changed from the old photos. While history can be garnered from a drive around town, the museum makes it all personal. Many of the pieces on exhibit have the names of who owned or used them. You realize that, while the logging and milling was a huge industrial operation, it was people creating the history and they do an excellent job displaying what life was like and the tools that were used in the McCloud area. While I have visited McCloud quite a few times, this was my first visit to the museum. I came away with a much better understanding of the area and look forward to visiting again.

Lots of variety in the large one-room museum. No entrance fee but a donation jar was located at the front counter.

This little museum is packed with historical items with representatives from all the peoples that have lived there. When we asked about the Hearst family having a mansion there, the lady docent told a bit about how they have enhanced the community. Every item displayed had a story.

Cute little town, surprisingly so. Museum was basically a lot of town history - office machines and asstd tools (and junk) from McCloud Lumber Company which was once a large presence in the town (maybe it WAS the town at that point). Lots of school and local memorabilia as well. Would not go far out of my way for it, but interesting if you are there.
