I can't say enough good things. Kimberly and Teagan were our guides, and they were wonderful. I had actually booked a 1:00 tour with a different business (Redwood Trails Horse Rides), and showed up at 12:30. At 1:10 I called them to be sure I was in the right place, and she said she was running late and would be there in 30 min. About 10 min later she texted me and said she was sick and wouldn't be able to do my tour. I was very upset, as we were only in town for a few days from thousands of miles away. The Buckarettes happened to be there preparing for a 2:00 tour, and also happened to have a couple extra horses with them. They graciously welcomed me into their group- and I couldn't have been more grateful and pleased! Funny thing is, the woman who I originally booked with pulled in just before 2:00 and met another group there for a tour. It seems she thought I'd have left by then. So- yeah she completely lied to me...I guess double booked and instead of being honest with me she said she was sick. I was totally disgusted at the lack of consideration. Things definitely worked out for the best though- the Buckarettes are friendly and fun, and we're glad we landed in their group. The scenery was amazing, we learned some new things about redwoods, and the horses were very gentle and sweet. Thanks Buckarettes!

We went of the 2.5 hour tour today and had a great time. I thought Kimberly was knowledgeable about the forest and did well with the horses. My horse was a bit lazy, but a few giddy ups and he kept up.

I recommend this place!

The ride was great! Our guide, Christina, was super nice and very knowledgeable about the forest and my horse Skipper was a wonderful trail horse.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Best trail ride ever! 2 hours on horseback, most of which is in the Redwood National Forrest. You can see the old growth areas which were amazing. The guides are well versed in the forestry and history of the area. So beautiful.

We loved riding horses into the redwood forest. It was one of the highlights of our vacation. The only bad part was the guide got a little impatient with my son that had a leg cramp and cried and had a hard time dismounting. He has a hard time doing some things and I was stuck on my horse where I couldn’t help him. I know she would have been more helpful if she had known more about him. Overall we loved the experience and would definitely do it again! My daughter wanted to take her horse home.

My daughter and I were on a girls trip to Northern California and decided this would be a great way to experience the Redwoods. We were EARLY and our "Guide" Kimberly never greeted us, seemed upset and was extremely rude to my daughter when she was mounting her horse. My daughter asked a simple question and she stated "Can this wait, I am trying to tell you something". She never asked our experience levels We both ride, but I ride more and should have been put on my daughter's horse.......
The horses were fine but I wouldn't go if you didn't have some experience - the trail is steep and the horses naturally spook a lot and it could be scary for a beginner. Also, Kimberly was even less friendly as we went up the trail...when she spoke, which was rare, it was to tell us to stop stopping our horses for pics or in the most monotone voice in the world, point out some fact about a Redwood.

With a different guide this could have been an amazing ride, but unfortunately, Kimberly left us stressed out and pissed off!! We paid $140 for an hour of mean girl!!

We were scheduled for the 10AM 2-hour Majestic tour. The instructions said to arrive 15 minutes early. We arrived 5 minutes early due to circumstances outside of our control. When we arrived, the other 4 riders were mounting their horses. One guide led them off. The remaining guide - Kimberly? - seemed mad that we were late. She was snippy and not at all friendly. She said very little along the trail ride. The horses were very slow and a bit difficult. My daughter's horse kept getting up on the butt of the guide's horse and nipping at his behind. The guide's horse tried kicking my daughters horse at one point. I couldn't wait for it to end.

This is a great experience. Christine and her girls had the horses ready for our family of four when we arrived and we all enjoyed our time riding high up among the redwoods. Seeing the redwoods in and of itself is great, being able to do it on horseback is even better. The two hour Majestic ride truly was that.

Well, our family of four - two kids ages 13 and 8 - wanted to do horseback riding into the Redwoods. I checked out the reviews of the Redwood Creek Buckarettes and they seemed pretty good. First off, it is a great way to see the Redwoods - and the two ladies gave great information as you were riding along. Well, one of them was very personable, the other was not - but I can respect that. Anyway, I do not want to take anything away from these two ladies and the business they run. I hope they are successful in every way. That being said, here is a synopsis of our ride.
The first thing they said was the kids MUST wear helmets. It is optional for adults. I am going to tell you - wear a helmet regardless. They lined us up and seemed to pick and choose which horse was best for each person. I think this was based on the fact that some horses were a little more finicky than others. They lined us up and we started walking to the trees. The horses seemed very hungry - most of them kept trying to stop and eat along the way - so it seemed a firm hand was needed to keep them going. We went up the trail to the turnaround point. At this spot, there was a large burned out redwood tree you could actually take your horse into and take a photo. One of the ladies lined up all of us on the horses side by side, led the first young boy into the tree for a photo. On the way back to the line, his horse was spooked by something and "dashed" into the horse next to him, who then proceeded to dart into the middle of the group. All of the other horses were startled and it seemed like a mini 30 second stampede was going on. The second horse bucked the young girl OFF of him - she hit the ground hard and lay motionless. The rest of us were just trying to stay on the horses. The young girl complained about her back hurting and cried a bit, but stayed calm. The two ladies seemed to be shaken by the situation. We all sat and waited for the horses to calm down, and for the young girl to get back on her feet. She was a brave girl - and agreed to get back on her horse and ride back down. The entire ride back down to the stable was tense and uncomfortable. The horses were clearly acting out - to each other and I thought to the riders. My horse kept slowing way down, waiting for the horse behind to come beside him. Then he would stop, turn around, and attempt to nip or bite him. I really had to pull and kick my way back down. It was a nerve wracking ride with the lady behind me practically in tears wanting to get off. All of us wanted just to get off and onto the ground. So, all of this being said, be sure to wear a helmet. Be ready for the horses to misbehave - we were all beginner riders and it seemed clear these horses may not be for beginners. We assumed the horses would be fairly docile and rider friendly. They were not.

The Buckarettes know horses and are good tour guides giving information about the trees that we hadn't read elsewhere. We got to ride through part of the Redwood National Forest that we wouldn't have had access to otherwise. We both ride occasionally and thought the Buckarettes were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We thought they kept the horses too close together on the trail though and we would have been more comfortable with a little more room between horses/riders. It was what you'd expect from a trail ride with trail horses.
