Excellent way to learn some of the history of Palm Springs and the people behind its emergence in the desert, along with seeing architecturally significant neighborhoods and the outside of homes. The guide has also curated inside pictures of the homes on an iPad so that you can look as you ride along. I turned on my GPS while we were touring so I could get a better feel for where we were in PS.

PROFESSIONAL AND UNDERSTANDING
I was not able to take the tour since my stepson had emergency open heart surgery at 32. Lyle was not obligated to refund our tour but due to the unforeseen circumstance he refunded us half our ticket price and gave us a credit for the other half.
We will definitely take his tour next time we are in the beautiful area of Palm Springs. He was a total gentleman. And we have heard his tour is wonderful.

Lyle knows his stuff. He gives great detail about the history of Palm Springs, as well as the architecture and architects themselves. His van is very clean and provides a great opportunity to see the buildings presented. I wondered whether the tablets he uses would be effective or gimmicky, but they provided so much more detail visually than you could get without interior access. Well worth it. He has other tours, and we will probably do a different one next time.

Lyle does such an outstanding job of making the subject of Modernism in structural design understandable and approachable by the average person. The tour starts with a brief background lesson of Palm Springs' geological, cultural, and political history that influenced the trend known as "Mid-Century Modern" design. Lyle is easy to listen to, and very welcoming of questions. We had lots of questions, as a group, and he fielded all of them with aplomb. I will do this tour again next time we're back in the area! Just plain great!

Lyle's tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Lyle's presentation was perfectly fitted for both novices and those more familiar with modernist design. He also asked a few times throughout the tour if there was a need to add more details or clarification. Sitting in the back of the van we were still able to interject a question or two as needed, no problem. I don't always like iPads and digital distractions during tours as I'd rather hear content from the experts, however the use of iPads in this case was actually really helpful to see pre-loaded photos of interiors we would not otherwise see. The houses I looked up on the device had photos from varying times which was also interesting. But the best part of the tour was by far the information provided by Lyle as we saw the various properties. His stories and expertise made the buildings and area really come alive and gave a better understanding of the rich history of this beautiful area. This is a great activity for a first- time visitor to Palm Springs, but we'd return for another tour from Lyle next time we are in town.

We were in Palm Spring for a company event and had some free time. Lyle was a true expert of his field, not only passionate but also caring about passing his knowledge to others. I value such authentic experiences, where you get a true vibe of the place, get insights into it's history. I have never thought Palm Spring would be such a cinematic town if not the MidMod tour. It was the highlight of my trip to US.

I signed up for a tour with Lyle so that two first-time visitors to Palm Springs could learn something about the unique and fascinating architecture here.
Over the years I've been on a few similar tours with mixed results. I was delighted with the tour Lyle provided. He's very knowledgable about the history of this city, the technical aspects of building and has a great conversational style.
The trip was well wortht the time and cost and I would definitely recommend it for anyone with an interest in this wonderful mecca of mid-century design.

While there are mentions of celebrity this is not a celebrity tour. It is very informative, full of history and architecture. Lyle is an architecture and gives you factual information. However, if you are looking for other things he is flexible and happy to adapt the tour to your needs. I toured with a group of professional design people and they really enjoyed the tour also.
It is priced more than some tours, but your guide is a professional and not just someone reading a script. It is worth it.

Thank you for mentioning the lack of a script. I really do modify the tour to suit the interests of the party gathering for each tour. There is so much history in Palm Springs, and keeping the tour fresh makes it more fun for me, as well.

Lyle is very knowledgable, is a very good speaker and teacher, he is very considerate of all human needs during the tour, his van is impeccable. My husband and I highly recommend this tour. The reviewer who calls this "a waste of time and money" must not have taken the same tour we did, do not be dissuaded by that review.
