We love escape rooms and have done all of the ones near our home in the Bay Area. So while vacationing in Rancho Mirage, we decided to try Escape Games at the River. It did not disappoint! It was clean, the staff was friendly and professional and the rooms were incredible. Yes I said rooms- we loved this place so much we did 3 while we were in town. Their rooms, while not necessarily the most difficult were gorgeously decorated and very detailed and several included something for all 5 senses.
We started with The Great Candy Challenge and we brought the kids (14 & 16) and my parents. All 3 generations had fun in this delicious, whimsical room. The next day we headed back for Tomb Raider, this room is dark and definitely has a scary vibe, so not for the faint at heart. It contained lots of unique puzzles to solve, unlike others, we’ve been to that are so lock 🔒 heavy. The final game he played was our favorite: Mutiny:Skull Island. It was a multi-room experience with unique puzzles that were great for the whole family.
Whether it’s your first or forty first escape room, I recommend Escape Games at the River.

My guess is most people only take the time to review if an experience is either really good or really bad…
I took my 86 and 83 year old mother and friend, both of who are super sharp and my brother who generally doesn’t really like games. I can’t begin to convey how perfect it was…..
Not only was the escape room super clever and fun, the owner and employees were top notch! I could tell our having fun was genuinely important to them.
We did the 80’s music themed room and I honestly can’t wait to come back to do a few more!!!

Having done about 7/8 escape rooms before, my girlfriend and I played Treasure Hunters: Station 13 this evening. We always really enjoy a tricky room, and this room was a really fun level of difficult, but also really fun. The room looked amazing, and a lot of thought had clearly been put into designing the room. Nolan, who ran our game, was a great guy, and took a lot of time to chat to us afterwards about the game and answered any questions we had. Could not recommend this place, and particularly the treasure hunters game, more - one of the best rooms we have done.

Very nicely presented with great decoration and fun reveals. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. This was a return trip and this time we did Secret of Dragon’s Spire, which was a little on the short side (only two of us, succeeding with almost 24 minutes left). Still a good experience with a nice variety of puzzle types.

We’ve never done an escape room before and my 10yr old and I had a BLAST tonight. Triniti was our staff person and I couldn’t say enough things about how wonderful and fun she made it for us.

My experience here was awful. The workers were rude and there was a 2 hour minimum wait. After telling the workers we were going to leave because we didn't want to wait, they essentially harassed us into providing our emails and phone numbers to send an email every other week reminding us to come back. This was terribly annoying. The only reason I'm leaving this review is because they won't stop emailing me to leave one. Fine. You win. I'm here writing this stupid review for this awful escape room.

I am sorry your experience wasn't what you expected. I looked into your booking and it looked like you booked your game at 5:50 for a 9:15 game back in March. I am sorry if we could not get you in right away. We always allow walk ups to come in and play. Unfortunately you came in on a Saturday night right in the middle of spring break and we were sold out almost all day.
I am not sure how you were harassed about giving your email and phone number. You booked the game online and entered that information yourself. It is required information during the booking process. This allows us to send a confirmation email and gives us the ability to contact you if you are late, or forget something inside the game.
Please give me a call at your earliest convenience if you would like to discuss your experience further.
In the meantime, I am sorry your experience with us did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide quality experiences. I look forward to speaking with you.

8 of us spent an hour trying and successfully escaping our room. We enjoyed working together as well as seeking our own answers to the clues. This was a new way to enjoy spending our time together in the Palm Springs area.

Our family of four likes to visit escape rooms when we travel to different cities. This place was one of our favorites so far. Love it when a company invests in the whole experience - from check in, communications/monitoring, (and bathroom!), to really integrating the theme and the details of the rooms themselves. We did two rooms while in the area:
Mutiny: Skull Island - the attention to detail and the special effects in this room are incredible. Definitely bring your reading glasses and a small flashlight if you have older eyes like I do lol.
Treasure Hunters: Station 13 - despite all of the cool effects in Mutiny, this was our favorite of the two. There were just so many puzzles to solve that everyone was kept busy the entire time. It was a rush to have been able to finish the game. One of the artifact puzzles wasn't in operation while we were there but that didn't detract from our experience one bit.
Trinity was an excellent game master. She provided us with the perfect balance of assistance and autonomy. Her friendliness and enthusiasm made for a really fun experience. We requested her when we returned a few nights later. Trinity recommended Treasure Hunters to us for our second room and we were so happy she did.
This escape room is located in The River at Rancho Mirage shopping mall. Parking is easy and there are many places where you can grab a bite before or afterwards.

We have done several escape rooms before, but this one was the best. Imaginative scenarios, high density of puzzles to solve per room, novel puzzle types, and great production value (the Dragon’s Spire has a real suit of armor in it). The staff was universally friendly, efficient, and dedicated to you having a good time. There was a monitor in the room where you got information, saw your remaining time and got hints. That was so much better than trying to communicate with the host verbally.
We did The Secret of Dragon’s Spire and The Forgotten Pharaoh. The Dragon’s Spire was more multimedia, Pharaohs was more puzzle intensive, but both were great.
Couldn’t recommend them more.
