The visitor center is very informative, and I am sure the historical site is nice, but it was not open while I was there. The center is under construction. I am not sure of current hours. If you are in Garden of the Gods, you should visit.

I visited for the first time recently with my sister. It was an unexpected visit as we simply intended on visiting Garden of the Gods. This place is located directly beside it. There is plenty of parking and the entry cost of $8 was an absolute bargain. There was so much to see, with people dressed in period costume and each person was so informative regarding the history. There was a Blacksmith working, ladies making apple sauce cake, musicians, the whole place was amazing! There is a gift store and the place is amazing for photographic opportunities. Absolutely worth a visit.

Keep a lookout for frequent events at this living history sight. We've even seen a period baseball game attended by Prez Lincoln himself. Buy a membership to support this beautiful place and save all year.

Nice excursion from the Garden of the Gods. Easy walk with lots of interest. From old equipment to a barn and Indian camp. Worth the hike.

We took our 2, 6, and 9 year olds to the Ranch today. I was SO impressed. The actors are wonderful and really took time to answer the kids' questions. It was a gorgeous day and it was so nice to be able to be outside at a living museum. It helped that there was no one there! The Garden of the Gods is packed with people so I just assumed this would be too. But we were one of the only visitors - so we had basically personal tours of all the homes. The kids loved the scavenger hunt. Highly recommend if you have inquisitive kids.

Nice little Ranch to visit. Right by the entrance to the Garden of the Gods. You'll see some Animals and a Good View of the Garden of the Gods. Kids will like seeing the animals. Horses, pigs, Goats and a big cow.

Despite how crazy busy Manitou Springs and the Garden of the Gods was on the Friday we were there, Rock Ledge Ranch had very few visitors. It was a nice peaceful experience, especially after our two crowded tourist stops prior to arriving. This historical ranch was mostly original buildings and had a few places to visit. We first stopped by a cabin reconstructed to match the original owners abode, then a Native American trading post and teepee. After that, we walked to the ranch house and farm buildings, over to the trading post, then to the blacksmith shop, another home built on the property, and finally to the carriage house (which now houses the public restrooms). The buildings were spread out which meant quite a walk to see the entire grounds, but again, it was a nice warm day and the walk was pleasant.
Our favorite thing was to talk with the docents and junior docents, dressed in period clothing. They were knowledgeable and gave us plenty of interesting stories and facts about the ranch and a glimpse into what life may have been like then.
We especially liked talking with Noah, one of the junior docents at the main house, and watching the blacksmith actually making an iron decoration in the forge. It’s very cool that the people that are employed or volunteer there actually work the garden and cook with what they grow. They made popcorn over a campfire and baked some zucchini bread in a clay oven the day prior to our visit.
Our schedule allowed two hours, but we definitely could have used another 30-60 minutes to chat with the last of the docents before leaving the grounds. It’s a nice place for people interested in history, reasonably priced, and definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic surprise adjacent to Garden of the Gods! We took our toddler here for a day trip, and I only wish we had known about this place sooner.
Right now, admission is purchased online due to COVID-19, but there is still a worker at the front kiosk providing maps and general instructions regarding what to see. Guests walk a very well-maintained pathway that takes them through history. The first stop is a Native American/French Trapper site, complete with an authentic tipi, lodge, and lean-to. From there, guests walk the path to a cabin, then to the farm and the Rock Ledge house (Victorian era), and finally to an Edwardian-era house. There is a functioning blacksmith's shop on site as well.
All the employees were in period dress appropriate for the building in which they worked, and they were all extremely knowledgeable and friendly. No questions were left unanswered, and they were very accommodating. We made corn husk dolls at the cabin, and one of the "farmers" showed us the new baby pigs and described ranch life during Victorian times. There is also hiking West of the campus that takes guests into Garden of the Gods.
Tidbit for the managers of Rock Ledge: I don't recall her name, but the 12-year-old girl working at the Rock Ledge Ranch was VERY impressive. She was friendly, made eye contact, was comfortable talking with adults, had a lot of knowledge about the establishment...very mature beyond her years.
Great experience. We'll be back with friends!

We had a terrible experience at The Rock Ledge Ranch! I do not recommend taking your family here as staff is very rude and unprofessional. They didn’t even take into account that we had small children present before proceeding to yell at myself and my husband!!

It is a city park that you can access any day (via the road on the south side or trails at Garden of the Gods.) The buildings are only open on particular days in which you must pay or be a member to be on grounds.
