Free guided tours that last an hour are available weekday at 11:00, 12:00, and 1:00. Very interesting and entertaining. You can walk to the top near the rotunda and go outside.....100 steps to get there. You must have a guide to go up. Beautiful views from there. Just below that is the "attic" which houses an interesting museum. It is an easy walk from the capitol the catch the free 16th St. Mall shuttle which we took to the end and walked back the other way. The capitol building also is beside Civic Center Park which has a few nice bronze statues.

We tend to visit this beautiful landmark during every trip to Denver. Grand decorative art makes me recall some Socrealism style. It is iconic to take a picture on the one-mile-step.

Le parc autour est plein d'écureuils, le monument est imposant; l'intérieur est à visiter aussi ; l'accueil est très sympathique.

Fun to visit for the mile high step - we visited when the building was shut for Labor Day weekend but it was still a good place to visit for the views of the city. There was an extremely hot market in the park nearby - it was boiling in early September.

We took a tour of the building. The building is fairly average as far as state capital buildings go. The walls are very pretty with the red granite.
There is some artwork around the building. Mostly portraits of past governors and presidents, with a few murals.

I normally don't visit government buildings, but I saw that they offered a free tour and thought, why not? The tour guide was great; she told us a lot about the history and architecture of the building, as well as about Colorado legislature--most of which you would not learn by touring on your own. If you join a tour, you can also walk up to the dome and get a great 360 view of the area. The actual building is very beautiful!

Beautiful state capitol. We joined a one hour free tour of the building, expertly led by a friendly, informative guide. Like a lot of state capitols, the architecture is incredibly impressive, indeed, imposing. The building is maintainable and being restored to its historic high standard.
The free tour includes access to the dome and terrace with fabulous views over the city and to the Rockies.

in allen anderen Städten haben wir das Capitol nur von aussen angeschaut. Hier haben wir uns die Zeit genommen und haben es auch von innen angeschaut. Sehr lohnenswert und schönes Gebäude. Besuch lohnenswert

The state capital is in downtown Denver, and they offer a free tour of the various rooms including the attic that contains much history and the dome for a terrific view.

There are public lots all around the capitol. Most are reasonably priced. If you're staying at one of the downtown hotels I would recommend catching the 16th Street Bus.

no booking tour ahead of time they are like on the hour great tour you can walk it yourself too BUT when you take the tour you get to go up to the top and it's worth it great view and the steps are not as bad as they say they are about 90 but easy I did it better then I thought I could; parking is all over but we found the best place for $8 for the whole day that was close to the Denver Mint then we just spent the whole day walking around and enjoying all the sites

IF you take the tour the DOME is included but IF you have bad knees I would not advise about 90 steps YOU can always try it and stop to rest or turn around and go back down PLUS you can still walk the entire Capital with out the tour you can take the tour just for the info the guide gives you as well
