Went to Zoo Lights for the first time, truly magical! Over 3 million lights and we actually saw more animals than we thought we would. Be sure to visit the Rhino/Hippo indoor habitat, it is off the path a bit and there wasn’t anyone else in there, so I think people don’t realize you can go in there.

We visited the zoo on a snowy day, which meant some animals were not viewable, but others were even more visible than I'd normally expect. Due to recent snowfall, about half of the zoo was closed off (I think the walkways were unsafe). But, the cooler temperatures meant a lot of the animals were active. Some, like the elephants and giraffes, were in their indoor area, but we were able to get right up close to them in that area (giraffes are tall!). And others like the penguins were out enjoying the cool weather. I was especially excited by their tiger area, which was large. The tigers were moving around instead of napping in the (non-existent) heat of the day. It was great to see them walking around near us and spending time outdoors. I'd love to go back and visit on another day to see the parts of the zoo that weren't available, but we enjoyed our visit.

This zoo is a must stop if you are looking for things to do in Denver...especially if you have kids. This zoo is constantly improving their animal care and enclosures. The wide array of animals to see makes this one of the top zoos in the U.S.
One note: If you are planning to attend on a very hot day, you may not see some of the animals. Like most creatures they will seek cooler places to be. I noticed in some of the other reviews that people complained about many of the animals being absent. I am guess that is due to excessive heat.

The Denver zoo is a great place to spend a day.
It is great for all ages.
Very well maintained zoo
Parking Lot is very close and very convenient.
There are plenty of areas to seat down relax.
Good conscience with plants of seating capacity.
Great signs and explanations about the different kinds of Animals.
For sure a great fun and educational experience.

Zoo was a great little bonus of my trip to Denver. Needed to kill some time before our flight out and we decided to stop by. Is laid out super well, and no backtracking was needed. Great animals and great staff.

I went to a company event at the Denver Zoo today, but upon arriving I couldn't find any place to park. I drove around for 20 minutes and the only place I could find was the street where the zoo ends to the west about 1½ away from the entrance. So after this, I went home. It's not worth going. I'd recommend going to the Cheyanne Zoo down in Colorado Springs.

Where do I start? Parking was easy, organized, and free, and the exhibits were laid out in a logical manner. We parked in the parking lot, the friends we met there parked on the street for free.
All around great exhibits for the mammals, most with room to roam, other than the snakes and reptiles. Their cages were proportionally tiny.
It was great seeing the elephants, penguins and white mountain goats to name a few. The kangaroo exhibit, was quite the experience with Kangaroos hanging out in the of their human admirers, some even taking naps on the walkway. We spent 3 1/2 hours at the zoo though could have easily spent more time there. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the quality or costs.
One recommendation is to have better signage listing daily feeding times and animal talks.

Spent an afternoon here when we had time to kill before starting our road trip north. Pretty nice assortment of animals and we were able to see a lot. Many food locations and well located restrooms and we also really enjoyed the gift shop. Loved the penguins!

There were a lot of people there for a Thursday morning, but overall it was a very nice zoo. It was a hot day, but there was a lot of shade and a lot of places to get water and misting stations. The best exhibit in my opinion was the orangutans. There was a full family with a mom, dad, child, and infant, doing family things. They were adorable and entertaining.

We'll be towing a 24 ft camper. Is there ample open parking for RV/oversized vehicles?

A review mentioned renovations and parking issues. We will be visiting in May 2024, any idea if renovations will be complete and the parking issue(s) solved?

Do I have time to fully explore the Zoo and the Nature and Science Museum in one day? I read that the Science Museum you could spend 1/2 day there. Thanks!!

You could fully explore both, but you would probably have to rush through. I would recommend exploring each on separate days to fully experience the exhibits.

I did some research for you.Look up "mile high on the cheap", it does state this is true and provides other information. Look it up, it may help with other information you need!
