Nice relaxing walk! Not too many people out, but enough people out and about that I wasn’t creeped out. Easy and beautiful. I love it!

It's a blast to see the city from a unique perspective. The trail follows the river for miles, and it connects to other trails giving endless possibilities for riding. Accessible from just about any point in the city, you'll get a feel for Denver, and there are also some spots with history signs.
We headed north from the downtown area out to the Platte River Trailhead. Once out in the industrial area, you'll find ... ummm... industrial smells. This lasts for a mile or two. And as another reminder you're in an urban area, you'll encounter less fortunate folks living along the river in tents. But that shouldn't stop you from getting on the trail to see the city.
A highlight is Confluence Park which is overlooked by the largest REI store we've ever seen. And we paused to admire the City of Cuernavaca Park .. a gorgeous urban park that leaps across the river.
This well-maintained bike path is a great way to get a sense of this city.

TOO MANY PEOPLE.
The scenery is great & the trail is very well maintained & routes & the easy, paved trail is great for beginner bike riders to practice on. EXCEPT for the constant, & I mean CONSTANT foot & bike traffic to the point where most people are being rude because they’re irritated with the crowds of people allllll over.

Overall the trail was a good experience. I was able to ride and run on the trail and enjoyed most of it. Sometimes a bit noisy compared to other trails I've used across the country, but considering this was in a large metropolitan area (Denver) I think it provides a good opportunity for outdoor runners and cyclist. When I return I will certainly use it again.

You can start in the extreme north suburbs of Thornton and be on a wide bike/walking path and never have to cross a street. They have done a great job of building the trail with bridges and tunnels to avoid having to cross any streets or highways

The Trail itself was very nice and well maintained. I went for a morning run about 8am on a Sunday and I passed 3 people on a 7 mile run, so not busy at all that early in the morning. Not very many big cities have a good place to run without crossing major roads so that was a plus. Another reason I think the trail isn’t busy was the amount of homeless people that live on the trail and under all the bridges. If I were to run this portion of the trail I would have a running buddy or run the Cherry Creek Trail instead.

I remember when you couldn't get near the S. Platte in the metro area, nor would you have wanted to.

If you go around this area you're guaranteed to see the filth of Denver. Drugs, transients and shady people are always around. My massage therapist used to walk along this area until he finally got tired of the crime, filth and threats to his life.
